KMF Camping

Em va agradar Paul and Gillian were super lovely and friendly hosts! The campsite itself is quirky and picturesque, with all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay. The addition of alpacas, chickens, sheep and a resident barn owl makes it a perfect place if you’re wanting a peaceful and wholesome experience in nature as well as lots to keep kids entertained.
Paul and Gillian were so kind to let our 7yr old help out with feeding the alpacas and teaching her all about the animals, she was thrilled to be there and can’t thank them enough for making her camping trip so magical.
We will most definitely be back to explore more of the surrounding area and hope there’s room for us at KMF Camping as we truly feel we’ve found a gem!

Em va agradar We had such a wonderful time at KMF camping! It’s a beautiful location and Paul and Gillian looked after us and our three kids so well.

Great facilities, kept very clean and tidy.

Our kids particularly loved the Alpacas.

We will be returning for sure!

Em va agradar A quiet and relaxed atmosphere with very welcoming hosts, spacious and well separated pitches, a great set-up of basic eco-focussed amenities, and resident alpacas... all made for a great short stay for me and my son (10).

A very well run site, in a good location, easy access to country walks and a very short walk to the charming Kirkharle Courtyard.

If you're looking for a fancy play area, posh shower blocks, and parking your car right next to your tent, this may not be for you. But for us it was a perfect low-key camping experience, with an emphasis on getting back to nature and being mindful of our impact, but still with everything we needed on hand, to make it a very comfortable stay.

Em va agradar Wonderful campsite! Loved the long grass between the pitches and the spacious pitches, hosts very welcoming from the start, alpacas provided lots of entertainment, really well thought out - especially small hut with games for kids ideal in the rain! Thank you!

Em va agradar Paul and Gillian were very friendly and helpful, facilities were simple and rustic but clean, functional and pleasant. We enjoyed the alpacas and the little cabin with seats and toys and games, a useful place to hang out with our early rising son! Very nice surrounds with beautiful old church, Kirkharle courtyard with a wee playpark, lake walk and milkshake machine! Campsite was nicely laid out with really generous pitches and lots of space so it felt quite private!

No em va agradar The only complaint I have was there was a bit of noise from the road. Not a problem overnight but audible during most waking hours. Although our son did enjoy watching the tractors!

Em va agradar We loved the small size of this site. Only 6 tent pitches in the field ... there could have easily been 4 times this number but we were grateful that there weren't!
We also loved that its part of the The Greener Camping Club.
Gillian and Paul provided a personal service meeting us and showing us around the site and their communication was first class. What a lovely couple who have created a truly amazing camp site!

Em va agradar Lovely scenic location. It's really nice how the pitches are zoned and spaced out; that has been really well thought out. Kids liked the eco friendly element and learning about the compost toilets. There was a little shed with lots for the kids to do should weather be bad but we were lucky. We enjoyed the little woodland walk to Kirkhale and the children's playground there.

Em va agradar Slightly conflicted about writing this review because to be honest we'd sooner keep KMF Camping to ourselves but Paul and Gillian deserve all the visitors possible. Originally only booked for 1 night but decided to stay for 2 which Gillian and Paul sorted for us no problem.

Travelled for 2 nights with me, my wife and little 3 year old daughter.

Firstly location, perfect. Lovely views, easy access from A696. Having the Kirkharle courtyard a 5 minute walk down the road was brilliant, some lovely little shops, cafe, 24/7 milkshake machine was really handy, little park for my daughter.

Facilities on site were brilliant. Toilet was spotless and the compost toilet was easy to use and clean. Showers were perfect, honestly not expecting hotel quality showers at a campsite (hot with good water pressure), little welcome room was a nice bonus to get out the sun for a hour. No WiFi but not a issue as we had full 4G coverage (both with 02) if needed which honestly it wasn't necessary as your away camping!

Wildlife was outstanding. The sheeps are hilarious. Barn owl majestic. Little frogs, house martins and other animals which my daughter loved. She got to feed the alpacas who are adorable.

Nicely laid out pitches which are spread around so didn't feel like we were living on top of other guests.

First time taking my daughter camping and honestly we're hooked, don't know why we'd choose anywhere else now. Already looking at booking back up for august.

Paul and Gillian have done an amazing job and there passion for creating a proper heaven away from the hustle and bustle of city life shows. Both lovely people who helped us out with a couple bits and bobs no questions asked.

Had a few really nice conversations with other guests and hosts. Just a really lovely atmosphere.

Was excited to go camping with my daughter for the first time but was obviously a little nervous due to her age but staying at KMF made it easy, fun and something we'll remember for a long time.

If your in my position of thinking of taking a child camping for the first time do it here. You won't regret it. Like I said already thinking of booking again for august.
