Fancy glamping in the countryside, but within a few miles of the splendid beaches of the Northumberland coast? Shearling Shepherd’s Hut, on an organic farm a five-minute drive from the village of Belford, might just be the place for your next holiday. This cosy purpose-built accommodation for adults comes with uninterrupted views over Budle Bay and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, both part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. During the day you can explore various stops on the Northumberland Coastal Path (which goes right through the farm) or simply relax in your private garden, looking out to sea. There’s a veranda for drizzly days and a chiminea to stay toasty in the evenings as you do some stargazing. This is an area of very low light pollution, so if there’s any celestial activity, you’ll be able to spot it. Luxury touches in this handcrafted and fully insulated hut include a rainfall shower in the bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen with an oven, gas hob and fridge/freezer. The semi-enclosed sleeping area comes with a kingsize bed, double-glazed windows and black-out blinds for a peaceful night’s sleep. And in the morning, you can open the blinds and be greeted by views of the sun rising over Holy Island. It’s all pretty impressive. Belford (1.5 miles away) has a convenience store, plus several pubs and a fish and chip shop. If you fancy preparing your own supper, find the freshest, just-caught fish at Seahouses (15 minutes).
