With a stunning outlook over lush hills and valleys, Crooklands is a small touring site a couple minutes' drive from cute-as-a-picture Austwick village in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Immaculately maintained, each pitch has a gravel and grass area, and is fully serviced with an electric hook-up, water supply, waste disposal points and additional car parking space. There are walks straight from the pitches (good for stretching the paws of any accompanying dogs). Access from the A65 is easy, and the site is both a handy overnighter on your way up to the Lakes (35 minutes’ drive) and a springboard for exploration throughout the Yorkshire Dales. You have several foodie options close by. The popular pubs in Austwick are known for their good food, and a superb deli (five minutes) near Settle has a great array of cheeses, wines, snacks and ice creams. If you want to push the boat out, book Michelin-starred dining in Hetton (half an hour). As the site is around 60 meters from the main road, which can be busy at times, you may be able to hear slight traffic noise from the road. If you want a very quiet site, this isn't the spot, but there are some not too far away that may be better suited.

Aquest petit i ben presentat càmping ofereix una escapada rural tranquil·la amb vistes boniques. Les parcel·les són planes, ben equipades, i els propietaris molt amables. Ideal per als Dales de Yorkshire. Tot i ser tranquil, alguns clients senten el soroll de la carretera A65. Sense lavabos ni dutxes (com s'indica), alguns troben que la limitació no val el preu. Disposen de desguàs i hora d'arribada/sortida modificada.

Em va agradar Fabulous site in a great location. Very clean and tidy. Cold water tap beside the electric hook up. The owner, Steve, went above and beyond to help me, as my campervan battery was dead. He went to his place of work and brought the jump starter and got me back up and running. I’ll definitely stay there again. 🌈. Gilly

We have considered toilets but the cost involved for 5 pitches would mean us pricing ourselves out of the market. As there are other options locally that have toilets / showers we decided to compete on price and give excellent value, certainly for people with toilets in their camper or caravan . Steve

The easy access to the main road is often a benefit to some caravaners / campers that want an easy to find site that is not off the beaten track. Thanks again for staying with us.

Em va agradar Tidy site, close to Austwick, Clapham and Settle. Electric and water supply for each pitch. Footpath close by for dog walks.

Travel to the eastern side of the Lake District National Park for Elizabethan grandeur at National Trust - Sizergh (35 minutes’ drive), or otters, sharks and rays at the Lakes Aquarium (50 minutes). At Windermere (45 minutes), you can take lakeside walks and boat cruises, enjoy cream teas and shop for outdoor gear. Turn south to the Forest of Bowland National Landscape and take long woodland ambles in Gisburn Forest (35 minutes), or accompany cuddly alpacas on a stroll at Wood End Alpacas (40 minutes). If you’d rather potter about in the Yorkshire Dales, have a gentle ramble to Malham Cove (25 minutes to the car park), or challenge yourself with a hard hike up Ingleborough (five minutes to the car park), the closest of the Three Peaks. Lively market towns to explore include Settle (10 minutes) and Sedbergh (35 minutes), while the soaring arches of Ribblehead Viaduct are only 20 minutes’ drive away.
