Straddling the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lodge Park is a well-maintained site that will appeal to those who fancy a peaceful retreat, perhaps punctuated by invigorating walks through the surrounding woodland. Dogs are welcome here, so you can have your best friend by your side as you explore the local paths – not to mention the caves and waterfalls for which this area is known. If you want to sink your teeth into something more challenging, the trailhead for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk (which takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) is a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, you can admire the countryside from the comfort of the train on the Settle–Carlisle heritage railway (Settle station is about a mile away). Keen golfers, meanwhile, might prefer to while a few hours away on the greens at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). On site, the toilet/shower block has been built with natural limestone, in keeping with other edifices in the area. On a chilly Yorkshire evening, you’ll no doubt be grateful for the underfloor heating in these quarters, which also include disabled facilities. The market town of Settle (five minutes), with its cute stone cottages, has numerous cafés and restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops.

Em va agradar: Friendly welcoming at the gate. Plenty of room in the fields to choose a pitch. Fire pits to hire. Toilets and showers were very clean. They seemed to have someone cleaning them almost everytime I used them which was nice to see. We will come stay here again.

Em va agradar: We love the bottom field near the water and the space for our daughter to run around. Lovely hidden pebble area with lots of birds 🐦

No em va agradar: I normally absolutely love it here but unfortunately there were lots of groups of young couples playing music till midnight and driving up and down from the bottom fields in there cars I think just to go to the loo! I really hope it was a one off! The campsite owner did sort it out though 👍

Em va agradar: We camped by the river and it was so scenic, listening to the river at night was therapeutic. All the other campers were spread out across two fields so it didn’t feel crowded. Also the toilets and showers were nice and clean.

Em va agradar: Lovely friendly guy greeted me after hours as I was delayed in traffic. Explained all I needed to know and directed me to a lovely spot surrounded by picturesque views. Em va agradar: The site is located in a beautiful surroundings with all the facilities you need , toilets , showers, water points , elsan waste disposal point, never actually met the site owner but spoke twice on the phone and was very friendly and helpful, we stayed on the camping area with a stream near by , 16 minutes walk into settle , ( torch needed if walking at night) . Plenty of walks in the area . I would recommend this site for solo, couples , families Although we have had a lot of rain the site was easy accessible and had no issues getting off the area .

Don a hard hat and take a stroll deep into the bowels of the earth at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes’ drive). Here, you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and other spectacular rock formations sculpted by water over many millennia, plus subterranean ponds. Dominated by a well-preserved medieval castle, Skipton (30 minutes) is on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which you can explore from the comfort of a cruise boat or, if you feel comfortable around swing bridges, from your own hired narrow boat. On the outskirts of town, Raven Tree Top Adventure has hanging bridges and ziplines. Spend a day at the seaside in Morecambe (55 minutes), where you can take a leisurely stroll (or cycle ride) along the promenade, check out the trampoline park and have fish and chips alfresco, as you gaze upon the vast mudflats of Morecambe Bay. The mudflats might look inviting, but they’re notoriously treacherous, with quicksands and fast-moving tides, so you’re advised to stay off them.
