Staying in lush green Norfolk countryside sounds pretty appealing on its own. However, add in a heritage railway station with a museum and a bar-restaurant and things get even more attractive. Set next door to the Whitwell & Reepham Railway Station, Whitwell Station Campsite is a welcoming rural site with direct access to the station, where there are daily departures, a bar-restaurant with a rear garden and access to the Marriott’s Way walking and cycling path. Rural this site may be, but it’s also well within reach of a few other key Norfolk attractions. First of all, it's within half an hour’s drive of the city of Norwich, as well as The Broads National Park, a scenic place to walk or take a boat trip. If you'd rather find your own way, hire a canoe or kayak at Salhouse Broad (also half an hour's drive) to look for wildlife and paddle as far as Horning or Wroxham. From Whitwell Station Campsite, you're also poised to get out to the Norfolk coast. Start by nosying around Cromer pier or the Sheringham Priory Maze and Gardens before heading to Blakeney to try crabbing from the quay or take a boat trip to see the local grey seal colonies. All of these options are a little over a half-hour drive away. Back at base, the park has well-maintained amenities suited to a weekend break or family holiday, including toilets and showers.

Em va agradar How quiet and peaceful it was

No em va agradar It looked as though the was a woman staying on site permanently in a converted horse box who had a little black dog who was often seen without a lead on although it did stay close to its plot put we did watch it do its mess and the woman not clear it up one evening parked between the static caravans it was on a retractable lead and I don’t suppose she even noticed the dog had done it.Not enough outside lighting outside the toilette block of a night time.

No em va agradar Very limited curfew/ anti disturb techniques at the camp. Had a coach going back and forth till midnight and had people laughing and chatting through the night. When I texted the owner they never replied at all.

Del gerent: Good afternoon. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. You came on the weekend of the Reepham festival and we supply a mini bus for our clients so they don't have to walk on the road to return home from the festival. You did contact the owner yes but he wasn't sure which site you were on or what your name was you texted him at 23.53. He also wasn't sure why you messaged him when i was on site I'm the site manager which is clearly marked. The toilets are cleaned everyday, However not at the exact same time each day! The toilets aren't and weren't leaking as that's checked at the same time as they are cleaned. Would you be able to explain how to make it more woman friendly? We do have curfews however if I'm not told that there is a problem i can't sort it out.

Em va agradar Very Nice site, very quite and friendly with the free vintage railway next door.
We stayed for classic car run that was starting at the station. The owner let us keep our vans onside for a extra day as we couldn't pick them up until the afternoon. Definitely staying again. 😁😁😁😁

No em va agradar The aggressive welcome to what is a trailer park didn't improve the feeling that we were camping on what was otherwise the parking spot for the full time residents. We booked 3 nights but got out of there after one night.
My advice is, book one night and see what you think. There are other sights near the mariot way that wecome arrivals.

Em va agradar Everything!! The caravan had everything we could need and stayed cool in 32c heat!! We had a wonderful time and Steve was a very communicative host. We will definitely come back.

Em va agradar Peace and tranquility. Lovely pub in local village

No em va agradar Toilets and showers not very clean, water too hot to have a proper shower.
Whitwell station bar/restaurant closed at 5pm.
Some areas on site needs a bit of tlc.

Hard pitches so not able to use awning. Only told as we were leaving thar we could have asked them for some water weights.

Site ok for a 1 or 2 night stop over.

What's worthy of the first stop on your Norwich break? You might as well make it the lively city of Norwich (half an hour’s drive), which is packed to the brim with shops, pubs, theatres, museums and historic sites like the castle and cathedral. Stop by Pulls Ferry, a former ferry house with a 15th-century watergate, to see the route along which the stone was sent to the Norwich Cathedral building site. Norwich ghost walks, which have been up and running since 1998, will take you around the city’s most ‘haunted’ sites. If you’re keen to tick off a few beaches as you make your rounds, some worthy places to consider are the dunes in Holkham (40 minutes) or West Runton (35 minutes), where prehistoric bones have been found. Viewing platforms among the dunes at Horsey Gap (55 minutes) also give you a chance of spotting the area’s grey seal colony. There are lots of museums and National Trust properties around these parts, too. The National Trust’s Sheringham Park (half an hour) has woodland walks where lucky folks can spot wildlife like red deer and firecrest. Sandringham Estate (45 minutes), used as a holiday escape for royals, has spectacular gardens and Jacobean-style architecture.
