Whindrove Farmhouse

If you’re nosying on down to Norfolk for the coast, forest trails or royal estates, then you’ll be in quite a cosy vantage point at Whindrove Farmhouse. A 20-minute drive from Thetford Forest Park, half an hour from Sandringham Estate and 45 minutes from the coast, here, you’ll be bedding down in a bright and comfy yurt in a peaceful private field overlooking a small lake. The yurt is in paddocks with some sheep wandering around and a little pond, but despite being off-grid, you’ll have an outdoor shower, composting toilet and a small outdoor kitchen area to get cooking your favourite recipes. You’ll have a fair few tools to get you going, that's for sure, as the kitchen has a gas hob, barbecue and a coolbox so that you can crack upon a cool one – beer, wine, fizzy drink or whichever type of refreshment is your elixir – while you dine outdoors. After the food is done with, there’s also a firepit and a hammock outside so that you can kick back some more. It’s a proper cosy set-up and the yurt itself is lined with yak hair for an extra layer of comfort. If you’re planning on heading out somewhere rather than staying in for the evening, Downham Market, 10 minutes’ drive away, has a good scene for pubs, restaurants and takeaways. There are supermarkets here too so that you can buy refreshments, food supplies or anything else missing from your luggage.
