Balance relaxing amid greenery with wandering among woodland at Cosy Nook at The Old Beerhouse, a peaceful and private adults-only site in a pretty hamlet that backs onto the 153-acre protected Woodland Trust area of Pipe Hall Farm. There are walking trails aplenty at Pipe Hall, around tree plantations, swathes of young and ancient woodland and wildflower meadows, most with lush views of Lichfield Cathedral. Look out for finches and flycatchers among the trees, rabbits in the woodland and butterflies and bats flitting around the meadows from dawn to dusk. This two-acre Staffordshire site has plenty more wildlife-rich areas to wander around too, as it’s 10 minutes’ drive south west of Chasewater Country Park’s reservoir (and tourist railway). The edges of the Cannock Chase National Landscape – where you can take on treetop adventure trails or zoom on Segways along forested paths during a tour – are the same distance north. As well as being well placed for adventures and ambles (you can even take llamas for walks at the national forest 25 minutes away), the site’s sandwiched between the town of Burntwood and the cathedral city of Lichfield, five and 10 minutes from the site. The Lichfield Food Festival takes place annually in August. Chemical disposal, recycling facilities and ice pack freezing are all available on site, along with a toilet block for guests' use.

Pencil in an afternoon at least for Lichfield, to roam around the towering triple-spire cathedral dating back to the 12th century, survey the displays at writer Samuel Johnson’s museum and birthplace, or have a gander at Erasmus Darwin’s Grade I-listed Georgian house and close. If more historical expeditions are on the agenda, the ruins of the Wall Roman Site are under 10 minutes’ drive away. Sights of a more recent nature include the National Trust’s Shugborough Estate (half an hour) – a grand Georgian manor with a bright white exterior – and The National Memorial Arboretum, the UK’s year-round national site of remembrance (20 minutes away). Just outside Lichfield (10 minutes’ drive) is Stowe Pool reservoir for picnics beside the banks. Another place prime for post-hike alfresco meals with a view in the area is the Castle Ring Iron Age hill fort high up on a hilltop (also 10 minutes away). Up for a bit of thrillseeking instead? The rides of Drayton Manor Theme Park are a 20-minute drive away, while the Curborough Sprint Course – where you can speed sprint in a timed car race – is accessible within 15 minutes.

Em va agradar Extremely well kept site with access to woodland. Lovely welcome from owner and lots of nice little touches (tea and coffee, games room and we could help ourselves to apples from the trees). Lovely and quiet, we would definitely stay there again.

Em va agradar From start to finish, Richard was kind and helpful. Being my first solo trip with my doggies I was a little apprehensive, but staying here I felt very safe. For us the access into the woodland could not have been any more ideal. It opens up in places, and is a lot bigger than I first thought, and the camp site has bins at the entrance to the woods for dog poo bags.
Richard took the time with all his guests to make sure everything was ok, such a lovely host.
Thank you Richard, I can see why you have your “regulars”! We will definitely be back!

Em va agradar What wasn’t to like !! met straight away by Richard who runs it what a lovely guy,said where roughly to park set ourselves up and he would pop later to see if everything was ok . We backed our camper so we overlooked the beautiful countryside what a view to wake up to 😍 even the dogs loved it when we opened the back doors . The toilets where porta loos but spotless no smells ,plenty of toilet paper and hand sanitizer . There is a little shed with pool table, dartboard, games and books also a fridge if you need to store anything cold . The pitches themselves where perfectly mown and you just pitch up how you want too. Richard told us several routes to get to Lichfield by foot . After a walk and breakfast in Lichfield we chilled the afternoon and evening no noise apart from nature . We will definitely be returning to this little hidden gem . Many thanks to Richard we made our stay 😊

Em va agradar What an absolute gem of a place! Beautiful flat field with gate onto the most stunning woods with a multitude of walking routes.

Wildlife is all around and the energy here is just lovely.

Campsite owner Richard is super friendly and helpful and works hard to make sure his guests are happy.

Will 100% visit again.

Em va agradar We had a lovely 24hr stay at cozy nook. Perfect back to basics site. The owner is very friendly and keeps the place spotless. Great access to woodland walks from the site. We will definitely be returning

Em va agradar A well maintained, peaceful adults only campsite. Very friendly owner who keeps the facilities very clean. Wonderful location with a gorgeous woodland walk direct from the campsite. We would definitely stay again.
