Surrounded by sloping countryside and quiet farmland, Farwood Farm is one of those rural spots where the views are simply splendid from dawn through to dark. Out in the gorgeous Gloucestershire countryside about five minutes’ drive from Nailsworth, this site is part of a working smallholding where owners Kim and Mark are raising sheep, pigs, chickens and ducks as well as growing fruit and vegetables for self-sufficiency. They also have a farmstand on site where guests can get their hands on eggs, fresh meat (both lamb and pork products) and seasonal produce. Many of the animals roam free at this site, so don’t be surprised if you come across the odd sheep or two nibbling their way around the pitch area. After all, you’ll be staying on pitches mown into the long grass, with the rest left more natural to provide space for wildlife (and hungry sheep). The emphasis at this site is on enjoying the rural peace, views and fresh air, so facilities have been kept on the simple side. That said, you’ll have access to all the essentials: portable toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a wifi connection are all on hand. There’s also a barbecue, a picnic table and a communal fridge-freezer – and you’re welcome to bring your own barbecue as well. For meals out, there’s a pub 15 minutes’ walk away in Horsley and more options in Nailsworth. Heading out, you may like to take a walk on the nearby Cotswold Way, go horse riding or mountain biking, or mix up your countryside time with trips to Cheltenham, Bristol and Bath.

Em va agradar Very peaceful, relaxed campsite, with far reaching views and plenty of secure space for the kids and dog to roam.
The kids enjoyed seeing the sheep, chicken and ducks.
We wandered to the pub for a drink, which was only a 15 min walk away.

No em va agradar The only criticism would be the shower. The plughole was full of hair, the tray was pretty grim and there were lots of spiders overhead, so was a quick in and out!

Em va agradar The owners Kim and Mark were happy to help with whatever we needed and lovely to have a friendly chat with. They offered us the option of meat produce grown on their farm and a firepit. Mark even brought the firepit over to where our tent was and set it up for us.The farm is beautiful and well equipped with a toilet, shower, and kitchen in the barn. The land covers 13 acres so there is so much room which meams there can easily be a large gap between you and other campers to keep it nice and peaceful.

Em va agradar Free choice of pitches as the site was not to busy, although there's plenty of room if it is busier. Excellent location and loved the animals free roaming and coming to say hi! Lovely dark skies on a night and the site was deadly quiet. Owners were so accommodating.

No em va agradar Only downside is all of the facilities are in the barn which may be a bit of a trek if you're on the top fields or at the far end.

No em va agradar Was a bit worried my can wouldn’t make it up the hill, so missed out on the views. But had a really gorgeous time camped down in the lower part.

Em va agradar Loved the relaxing environment with beautiful views and very well looked after animals on this working farm.
The grass was also very well kept with newly planted trees.
Plenty of space to move around as bookings our kept below ten so you can really settle in.
An amazing place for children to explore safely.

No em va agradar May be difficult for larger Motorhomes to climb up to the high pitches as grass.

Em va agradar Very beautiful spot, quiet away from the road. Mark and Kim were so lovely, super chilled and very helpful. Got some lovely hogget from their small holding that we had for dinner on return home which was really special. Well definitely be going back to stay again!

Westonbirt, The National Arboretum (15 minutes’ drive) is also a wonderful place for a wander, as are the estates of Woodchester Mansion (10 minutes) and Highgrove House (15 minutes). Fancy something different for your walk? How about an arty stroll around the Cotswold Sculpture Park (half an hour) or an outing with Cotswold Alpacas (35 minutes)? You can also take tours of Woodchester Valley Vineyard (10 minutes) or step aboard the Negus 747 (25 minutes) to see what it’s like to sit in business class… or the cockpit.
