Unlike most camping in Cornwall, there are no marked pitches and we limit the number of people on site so that there is plenty of room for everybody to stretch out. We also sell home produced lamb burgers and sausages, as well as bags of wood so that you may experience the ultimate in cool camping - a campfire!

At the farmhouse we sell logs and kindling as well as our famous minted lamb burgers and mutton sausages - otherwise there is an excellent village shop in walking distance that will cater to all of your other needs including internet access and a small cafe

Nearby attractions and activities

South Penquite is a two hundred acre family organic beef and sheep farm situated in the heart of Cornwall - high on Bodmin Moor between the villages of Blisland and St Breward

We are a demonstration farm for both the Soil Association and the Westcountry Rivers Trust, and as well as offering camping & yurts we have facilities for field studies and opportunities for educational groups and schools to learn about local environment

There is much to see on the farm which became fully organic in 2001. Since then we have continued to adopt an environmently sensitive approach including solar heated hot water and rainwater harvesting for the campsite showers, and more recently a wind turbine and thirty solar PV panels on a barn roof

As well as running the cows and sheep, the farm is exceptionally rich in archaeological remains and wildlife. We also have many horses, ponies, chickens, geese, ducks and of course our faithful working collies without whose help we could not run the farm

In addition, in 2012 we are once again hosting a series of bushcraft days and family art workshops which you can book to treat yourself or your family to a memorable experience which makes the most of our beautiful surroundings - and you won't need your car for the day!

Tranquility, eco-showers and campfires!

  • Would not recommend to friends
  • Would visit again

Liked: the clean, wooden wash stations
the campfire option - with local stones around the edge
the quietness of the campsite
solar powered showers
the helpful but business like owners
the spaciousness
the friendly cat and dog
the fact that my kid could play and be safe
the attractions on offer nearby - walks, sea, pubs, eden project
the price (£6 per adult per night)

Disliked: the windy moors
being chased by turkeys!
that you have to drive everywhere from the site
cars parked next to tents (tho this seems to be always the case)

Heading West on the A30 out of Launceston take the first right signposted to St Breward (several miles after Jamaica Inn). This takes you across a cattle grid onto the open moor. Follow this road without turning off (ignoring all turnings for either Blisland or St Breward) for approximately 3 miles and the South Penquite entrance land will come up on your right.
