Hot tub glamping: a whole lot of luxury without the high prices

Glamping with a hot tub – yep, now we’re talking the proper posh experience. A soak in blissful bubbles (perhaps a glass of something bubbly in hand too for the sake of symmetry) and then rolling into a cosy, comfy bed for peaceful slumbers… such things are holiday dreams made of, right?

You may imagine that now’s the time to sigh and write off such treats as the preserve of folk at swanky spa resorts, but nope… have a browse through our full range of hot tub glamping sites and you’ll likely note the presence of some rather affordable luxury choices.

And it’s not even all about the money – choosing a glampsite with a hot tub has added bonuses too. Evening of stargazing by the firepit instead of cooped up indoors? Getting woken by birdsong rather than an alarm? Sipping your morning coffee looking out at greenery rather than a room full of other guests?

If that’s a tick, tick, tick to the idea of all of this, read on for more advice on how to sort yourself a swish hot tub glamping break.

Picking your glampsite with hot tub

Birthday outing? End of exams? Managed to snag a couple of days away from the kids? Managed to crawl through another week of work? Frankly, anything you can dream up will do when it comes to finding an excuse to treat yourself to the little bit of luxury that comes with going glamping with a hot tub.

Picking the perfect site for you… well, that might require a little more thought, for the options are both plentiful and pretty fab. With that in mind, it’s worth pouring yourself a coffee (or popping open the bubbles to get you properly in the zone) and playing around with the various filters and maps to find your top spot.

Got an area in mind already? That’s handy for narrowing down your options: use the destination filters to search for hot tub glamping in Scotland, in Suffolk, in Slovenia or wherever else you’ve got your eye on.

Bit more open to suggestions? Have a think about whether you’re after the solidity of a lodge or cabin, or if you’d prefer to go for more of a camping vibe in something like a bell tent, a yurt, a tipi or a wigwam. Weather plays a role here (wooden walls being a better bet than canvas in midwinter…) and so does your travelling party (think cosy shepherd’s huts or camping pods for couples, bigger yurts or lodges if you’ve decided to allow the nippers to come along too).

Beyond that, there’s even more… Pick ‘dogs allowed’ to include pooch in your plans, ‘adults only’ to break free from excitable small folk, ‘on-site restaurant or café’ if you want to add to the luxury by having someone cook you dinner. Swimming pool? Play area for the kids? Bit of fishing? Take your pick.

Even once you’ve sorted the main considerations, have a good old read of the description and the info for your unit – this is where you’ll find out what’s provided (think woodburning stove, blankets, kitchen kit, firepit, bathroom facilities) and what you’ll need to bring along (perhaps bedding, toiletries, tea bags, a torch). Location maps will show you the nearest pub/chippy/farm shop so you can plan what you’ll do for eats (always an important thing to consider).

Where to go glamping with hot tub

Wherever you like, really (well, almost…) Stick close to home for a swift breakaway or make one of our hot tub glampsites part of a longer jaunt elsewhere. Head inland for splendid rural views as you bubble away, or check out coastal locations if you’d rather fill up on sea air before your soak (doesn’t glamping with a hot tub by the beach sound like quite the dream?)

If you’re looking around England, hot tub glamping sites in Cornwall and Devon are perennially popular picks, as are those in places like Shropshire and North Yorkshire (something to do with wanting to soothe aching legs after a lengthy hike or two?) Luxury-seekers in the UK also have plentiful choices when it comes to hot tub glamping in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Given the sometimes, ahem, unreliable British weather, it’s a fine plan to have somewhere cosy to retreat to, with some hot bubbles to warm up in too (see, sensible choice really…)

Decadence-seekers in France have plenty to pick from as well, with hot tub glamping sites spread right across the country from Alsace to Brittany to the Côte d’Azur, covering action-packed family holiday parks and peaceful farm-based retreats alike. Travelling elsewhere? You can dive into the bubbles in Spain, Italy, Croatia, the US… and plenty of other places too (sounds like a world tour of hot tubs should be on the cards…)

What kind of hot tub does your glampsite have?

No, we’re not getting into the nitty-gritty of particular brands and models (we’re not that geeky). But it’s worth noting that hot tubs aren’t all the same – some electric models can be heated in minutes with the flick of a switch, while others are powered by gas or wood-fired and therefore need a couple of hours before they’re good to go. It’s worth finding out which one you’ve got if you’re planning on getting into your cossie for a good old soak within minutes of arriving (sitting in cold bubbles being not that much fun really).

You’ll also want to cast a quick eye over any additional info that’s relevant to the particular site you’ve picked. If you’ve got a private hot tub you’re probably able to plunge in whenever you fancy, but if it’s a communal facility you may want to check whether there’s a charge or any need to book ahead.

Up for the hot tub but planning to bring your own accommodation along? No need to miss out on the bubbly fun – have a look at our tent sites, motorhome pitches and touring caravan parks with hot tub.
