喜欢 Location, View, Facilities. Everything.
Didwell Farm Campsite is a beautiful campsite surrounded by lovely scenery and a superb view to the ocean at Thurlestone. Rob, the owner, made a point of coming over to introduce himself and ensure we knew where all the facilities were.
It has a very relaxed feel - there were never more than 8 or 9 tents and camper vans spread out in the large camping field throughout our 4 night stay. Campfires are allowed (which my kids love) and blocks are even provided to put your fire pit on so the ground doesn’t get scorched.
The 2 compost toilets on site are among the best compost toilets we’ve come across on our travels. They were easy to use, cleaned every day and never smelled. A sink is provided with antibacterial soap for washing your hands after use.
Although the farm is a working one, a sizeable portion of the barn has been converted into a facility which genuinely sets this campsite apart from others we’ve used. There are 2 hot showers that were comfortably large enough for myself, my partner and our 2 kids to use at the same time, 2 sinks for washing up, 2 fridge freezers, 2 kettles, a microwave and something we’ve never come across at a campsite - complimentary tea and coffee. The barn also contains 3 picnic tables, table football (which was also a big hit with the kids), a chest of toys, a number of books available to borrow (both kids and adults) and a number of power sockets for charging phones and power banks, with built in USB sockets.
The campsite itself felt very spacious which gives you a sense of privacy at your tent, but the barn gives you a chance to talk to your fellow campers about their adventures and share ideas for days out. It also gives you a place to shelter from the elements, be they driving rain or scorching sunshine, whilst you have a cup of tea and plan your day.
And there are plenty of plans to be made. This was our second camping trip to the South Hams in 2 years and there is plenty to do in the local area. Lovely beaches and coves, quaint little villages, coastal walks or even Woodlands Theme Park. We’re already planning another trip next year and we’ll certainly be staying at Didwell Farm again.

喜欢 We travelled a grand total of 12 miles (from Penzance) to stay at Lena May’s Meadow. We wanted to give our 5yo and 1yo a bit of a bank holiday adventure whilst road-testing a new family tent. We couldn’t have picked a nicer site.
The meadow is at the end of a long farm track which means it’s set well back from any road. The paths and 6 pitches are cut into the meadow which means you’re surrounded by long grass, giving a real feel of privacy even when the other pitches are occupied. The facilities are basic - a composting toilet, a shower and a basin for washing up - but they were all in full working order and immaculately clean for our stay. The shower is a little cramped (I am 6’3”) but the pressure and temperature were both great.
A fire pit was provided and wood is available to purchase if necessary. Having a fire as the sun went down and the stars came out was a real treat.
Lena May’s Meadow is exactly what we look for in a campsite. You feel immersed in nature and extremely peaceful, and the lack of light pollution gives rise to some stunning stargazing.
The owners, Fergus and Leeann, are extremely pleasant and approachable should you need anything. Fergus met us on arrival to show us around, and you get the sense that they genuinely enjoy sharing their corner of paradise with people. We’ve already booked to go back next spring and we can’t wait.

来自经理: We are so happy to share our ''little corner of paradise'' with you. We are always wary of tall people like yourself in the shower but it definitely stood up to the challenge. Look forward to seeing you all again next Spring. Thank you.

喜欢 The views across the South Hams were spectacular and the peaceful, wild camping feel of Maple Meadow was exactly what we were looking for. When the clouds broke during our second evening the night sky was beautiful, and waking up to the sounds of the sheep and chickens in the next field was bliss. The owners - Matt and Lucy - were contactable by phone on arrival and introduced themselves when on site. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. The camping field is quite large and there are no set pitches which adds to the laid back feel. The maximum number of pitches at any time is 10 which means it would feel very spacious, even at full capacity. Our children loved having the space to run around and play. The one shower on site is a converted horse box with a gas boiler powered shower. It was clean, hot, very spacious, and had excellent pressure. There is a communal fire pit as well as a couple of old chimneas/bbqs available to have a fire at your tent. We had our own portable fire pit which Matt was happy for us to use. Firewood is available to purchase at the reasonable price of £5 a bag. Each bag contains some broken up pallet wood for kindling and some more substantial logs for when the fire’s going, so all you need to bring with you is firefighters (although Matt did kindly provide me with a couple as I had forgotten to bring them myself). The toilet facilities consisted of 1 composting toilet, which was clean and odour-free, and 1 portaloo positioned at opposite corners of the field. All-in-all it was a lovely 3 night stay and we would certainly consider coming back again.
不喜欢 Whilst the toilet and shower facilities were ample for our stay, as there was only one other family on site whilst we were there, I do wonder how much queuing may be necessary with 5 or 10 families on site. The flattest part of the field (which is also where you get the best view) is against the top hedge which has the road on the other side. It is a small country road but, with 2 larger holiday parks around a mile further along, it was busier than you’d think so there was a bit of road noise. Neither of these points affected my stay enough to deduct any stars however.
