If you need to wrangle the kids away from the site’s play facilities (excellent though they are), you’d do well to mention some of the antics they could be getting up to at local attractions. If they’re pre-teens, perhaps the carnival-themed rides at Dippiedoe amusement park (20 minutes’ drive) will pique their interest... or maybe they’d rather go in search of beasts both big and small at Dierenrijk animal park (half an hour) or Beekse Bergen Safari Park (40 minutes). Both small sorts and more mature folk are likely to have some fun scrambling about in the sand dunes of Loonse en Drunense Duinen National Park (40 minutes). A little closer to home are the sizeable Kienehoef Regional Park (five minutes’ walk), where you can paddle boats across the ponds or try your luck with a fishing rod, and the Sint-Oedenrode golf course (10 minutes’ walk). Arty types will be well served around these parts too: follow in the footsteps of one of the world’s most famed painters (and see his letters, his sketches and the places that inspired him…) at Van Gogh Village Neunen (25 minutes’ drive), or take a half-hour drive to either Eindhoven or ’s-Hertogenbosch for museum days.
