Camping de Watermolen

Check out the activity folder for a guide to the walking and cycling routes available both directly from and near the site. The Abel Tasman route is a particularly popular cycling trail, and there’s a splendid forest footpath that runs behind Watermolen for peaceful strolls with the family. Longer walks of anywhere between five and 15 kilometres begin directly on site, as well as from a path that begins at the nearby Doezumertocht canal. Water babies can continue their adventures over at Leekstermeer lake, 10 kilometres from base, where sailing and canoeing are the primary pursuits. More canoe routes also lie around the nearby villages of Visvliet and Niezijl Lauwerzijl if you fancy checking out the area from its fably scenic waterways. Family-friendly attractions of all sorts are plentiful around here too: it’s 40 minutes’ drive to AquaZoo Friesland, where you can see pelicans, polar bears and penguins among plenty of other mammalian, reptilian and aquatic critters. A recreation pool and miniature golf course are around 13 kilometres away, and several theme parks and museums (including one dedicated entirely to toys) are all well within an hour’s drive.
