A day out in the Alps? Walks in the Pilat Regional Natural Park? A day in Lyon? Horse riding? Taking the kids to a theme park or waterpark? All are easily done from Camping des Eydoches, in the Rhône-Alpes village of Faramans. Also easily done is time spent on site, as this family-friendly site is well equipped with facilities, including a heated swimming pool, table tennis, badminton and volleyball courts, plus play areas and a bouncy castle for the kids. For further activity, you need only take a short walk to the next-door golf course or the pond (which is suitable for fishing as well as waterside wanders). The team here have set up the site to make life as convenient as possible, with all sorts of amenities laid on including a food shop, a launderette, a washing-up area and bathroom blocks that have accessible facilities and baby bathrooms as well as toilets and showers. Even organising your holiday meals should be pretty straightforward here, as there’s a restaurant and pizzeria five minutes’ walk away, and shops 10 minutes’ walk away in the village. La Côte St André is 10 minutes’ drive away for more restaurants and supermarkets for your barbecue supplies.

不喜欢 Reception was due to open at 2pm and nobody turned up until 2.20pm. Us and two other guests were waiting to check in.
Shower block felt quite cold even in August.
Didn’t feel overly safe but okay for just an overnight stop.

喜欢 Really nice fully serviced pitches with good spaces between pitches. We were only staying overnight so didn't take advantage of anything in the area. Had a lovely pool which was closed due to the time of year

喜欢 Location next to a lake and park where we could take the dog for a walk. Toilets were clean and showers were spacious albeit a little tired. We arrived a bit early but the gentleman on reception was happy to let us check in and was friendly.

不喜欢 Not necessarily a dislike but site was fairly small and a bit basic. This is all reflected in the price and rating though. Electric hook up was across multiple pitches, we have a long cable but was a bit awkward when we were unplugging and had to pull the cable across an area where a tent was pitched. Couldn’t get the WiFi to work, said the code wasn’t recognised, we weren’t too bothered so didn’t mention to reception, I’m sure if we had they would have helped.

不喜欢 Lighting in showers at night (automatic) only allowed time to take off clothes and then shower and dry in the dark. Lidl within 3 miles so biking no problem.

Want to start by exploring the local countryside? There are plenty of places to get out for a walk or bike ride nearby, either from the site or from local villages, and a couple of equestrian centres just outside Faramans for those who’d like to tour on horseback. More challenging hikes can be found by driving an hour or so east to the Vercors and Chartreuse mountains or travelling a similar distance west to the Pilat Regional Natural Park. Mix in a bit of urban time with a day exploring the museums and historic streets of Lyon (an hour’s drive) or going up to Grenoble (45 minutes) to ride the bubble-style cable car up to the Bastille fortress. On a much smaller scale is the village of Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye (35 minutes), one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France for its medieval abbey and half-timbered houses. Family days out are in good supply around here too: try the waterslides at Aqualib’ (10 minutes), the treetop trails and ziplines at Parc Oasis Aventura (20 minutes), the wildlife trails at Safari de Peaugres (45 minutes) or the rides at Walibi Rhône-Alpes (50 minutes). It’s also really worth making a trip to Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval (25 minutes), an extraordinary building constructed by one man over 33 years, mainly using stones picked up on his post round.
