A day out in the Alps? Walks in the Pilat Regional Natural Park? A day in Lyon? Horse riding? Taking the kids to a theme park or waterpark? All are easily done from Camping des Eydoches, in the Rhône-Alpes village of Faramans. Also easily done is time spent on site, as this family-friendly site is well equipped with facilities, including a heated swimming pool, table tennis, badminton and volleyball courts, plus play areas and a bouncy castle for the kids. For further activity, you need only take a short walk to the next-door golf course or the pond (which is suitable for fishing as well as waterside wanders). The team here have set up the site to make life as convenient as possible, with all sorts of amenities laid on including a food shop, a launderette, a washing-up area and bathroom blocks that have accessible facilities and baby bathrooms as well as toilets and showers. Even organising your holiday meals should be pretty straightforward here, as there’s a restaurant and pizzeria five minutes’ walk away, and shops 10 minutes’ walk away in the village. La Côte St André is 10 minutes’ drive away for more restaurants and supermarkets for your barbecue supplies.

Liked: A lovely CLEAN and welcoming campsite. Ideal for a little stopover when exploring the area. Everyone was keen to welcome us - some guests have static vans. The pool is perfect for a cool down at the end of the day.

Disliked: Facilities were clean but basic.

Liked: Huge safari tent with two decent sized bedrooms, proper beds, all things you need in the kitchen area, big porch area with big table and two benches, even a sunlounger. Lovely pool area and clean pool with lots of sunloungers. Not far from toilet and shower block. Really good disabled shower room which was very needed. Generally very clean for a camp site. Great big area to walk the dog, off lead in places, right next door to site. Washing and drying facilities clean. Lovely staff. Beautiful location, very quiet, village less than 10 min walk away with bakery, butcher and a shop/bar. Nearest bigger town a 10 min drive away with supermarkets. Lyon about 45 min drive away.

Disliked: Main toilet and shower block pretty basic. May be in need of a bit of a refurb. No way of drying hands after washing them. Lights in block going out too soon which both daughter's found frustrating at times. Did become annoying when other guests without disabilities were using the disabled facitilies, forcing me to wait to even use the toilet.

Liked: Petit camping familial à côté d'un golf municipal 4 trous magnifique, près d'un étang mais sans moustiques. Piscine de taille modeste mais très sympa. Le patron et son assistante sont très à l'écoute et soucieux du bien-être des campeurs quels qu'ils soient. Les sanitaires sont bien entretenus. Le site est calme et en tente, c'est important. Le signal WiFi ne couvre pas tout le camping, mais ça passe en 4G donc....

Disliked: ce serait agréable d'avoir des patères dans les douches, et un caillebotis dans l'espace habillage, mais c'est rarement le cas en camping, donc ce n'est pas vraiment une critique. Ce serait juste un plus.

Local attractions

Want to start by exploring the local countryside? There are plenty of places to get out for a walk or bike ride nearby, either from the site or from local villages, and a couple of equestrian centres just outside Faramans for those who’d like to tour on horseback. More challenging hikes can be found by driving an hour or so east to the Vercors and Chartreuse mountains or travelling a similar distance west to the Pilat Regional Natural Park. Mix in a bit of urban time with a day exploring the museums and historic streets of Lyon (an hour’s drive) or going up to Grenoble (45 minutes) to ride the bubble-style cable car up to the Bastille fortress. On a much smaller scale is the village of Saint-Antoine-l’Abbaye (35 minutes), one of Les Plus Beaux Villages de France for its medieval abbey and half-timbered houses. Family days out are in good supply around here too: try the waterslides at Aqualib’ (10 minutes), the treetop trails and ziplines at Parc Oasis Aventura (20 minutes), the wildlife trails at Safari de Peaugres (45 minutes) or the rides at Walibi Rhône-Alpes (50 minutes). It’s also really worth making a trip to Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval (25 minutes), an extraordinary building constructed by one man over 33 years, mainly using stones picked up on his post round.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
