Set deep in the countryside of the Marais Poitevin, Le Marais Sauvage is a family-friendly campsite just south of the small village of Le Mazeau. The surrounding landscape is mostly made up of grassy marshlands, peaceful forests and pretty canals that are great for boating – so much so that the local area is sometimes known as 'La Venise Verte' (Green Venice). Guests spending the night here have access to well-maintained and spacious pitches, all of which are a short walk from the site's handy facilities. As well as essentials like toilets and showers, the site has a snack bar for light refreshments, laundry facilities, a service point for motorhomes, a small on-site shop and a play area for the kids; well-behaved dogs are also welcome. The centre of Le Mazeau is a short stroll away, where there is a restaurant and a bakery where you can pick up fresh bread and tasty pastries in the morning. Slightly further afield, the larger town of Niort (half an hour's drive) has a definite charm with its old buildings and pedestrian shopping streets, while day trips to the coast can be easily arranged as well – it's just under an hour to La Rochelle.

喜欢: We loved the variety of pitches there was to choose from, and how welcoming the hosts were. The site was also perfectly located to the sites we wanted to see (mainly Coulon) which was only 30 min on the bikes along scenic bike routes next to the canal systems. The showers and washing blocks were also very clean, and the showers were hot and powerful, which was perfect after a long day cycling!! It’s also worth noting they are on the old electric plug system, but the hosts were very helpful and provided an adaptor for our electric hook up. There is also free WiFi that reaches ALL the pitches! Absolutely brilliant.

喜欢: Very well run site, very welcoming and friendly staff. Toilet block exceptionally clean, nice extras like mats to prevent slipping. Handy little shop, bread to order, liked the idea of crepes and galettes cooked to order.

不喜欢: Only one thing, the rubbish bins are not easily accessible without getting very wet feet, and quite a distance from the road, could be difficult for carrying heavy bags of rubbish.

喜欢: Really nice small size Campsite, friendly personal approach. Lovely area which is great for cycling. Good size pitches, far enough apart and greenery in between so you get the feeling of some privacy. Very quiet at night. Cleanest sanitary facility we’ve been to so far, very impressed! And wifi included on your pitch which was a surprise but appreciated
