Camping Baroudeurs

Getting out to scenic walks and villages is nice and easy from Camping Baroudeurs. A particularly well-known spot is the tiny clifftop village of Rocamadour (an hour and 10 minutes’ drive), with its Romanesque-Gothic Basilica. However, you don’t need to drive so far if you don’t want to; Treignac (35 minutes), a medieval village on the river Vézère, is a spectacular spot with a 13th-century bridge. For a quick post-lunch stroll, take a short drive to Vallée du Brézou (five minutes) and Forêt de Blanchefort (10 minutes) for a light woodland walk. Les Pans de Travassac (25 minutes) will switch up the scenery some more; strolls take the form of guided tours through an old slate quarry with tall cliffs. There are a couple of towns you'll want to keep on your radar, too. First up is Uzerche (15 minutes), once described by English writer Arthur Young as ‘the pearl of the Limousin’. This fortified town on the river Vézère has a restored papermill with a small museum. Second is Arnac-Pompadour (half an hour), a town well known for its castle and for producing the Pompadour horse breed.
