That waterpark’s a bit of a stunner, n’est-ce pas? (Oui, off you go for a quick nosy at the pics.) The 1500m² whopper of a waterpark at Camping le Sainte-Marie comes with a 25-metre pool, a kids’ pool, diving board, waterslides, waterfalls and a water play area with geysers and fountains. (And, given that it’s likely you’ll be settling in for a while, plenty of sun loungers all around too.) Fancy a change of scene from the pool... at a local beach, perchance? More than one flavour of shore awaits – a wild stretch of dunes is a 10-minute walk away, or you can drive to a serviced beach in 10 minutes if you prefer your sand more manicured. Or maybe you’d prefer simply to take it easy on site? No probs: there's a mini farm with goats, llamas and ponies to feed, and loads of sunny and shaded spots for stretching out on for a few hours. Kids, meanwhile, can be packed off to the summer kids’ club for daily frolics in the form of treasure hunts, crafts and games of volleyball and table tennis, or bounce around on the bouncy castle and trampoline to fully use up all that kidlike energy. During the summer season, the on-site restaurant-bar provides all sorts of sustenance for guests, from those who want a full-on dinner to those who require nothing more than a cocktail or chilled beer to sip by the pool. It’s also the hotspot for evening shenanigans, with various entertainment going on throughout the week.

By car On the A9 take the exit signposted Perpignan North. Follow for Canet-Barcares and for Ste village. You will find the campsite signs along the way. By train/bus The nearest station is TGV Perpignan Central Station. From there, take Line 1 or 2 and stop at Vauban. Change for Line 14 directed to Sainte . Stop at Village-École primaire. By air Airport Perpignan-Rivesaltes

当地景点

An easy way to get around this area is by bike – if you’ve not brought your own you can hire from the site. Start by taking the 10-minute ride into the village of Sainte-Marie for shops, restaurants and the beach, and later on take one of the tourist office’s suggested circular routes to see some of the area. The well-marked routes range from six to 20 kilometres and are marked out on a map you can pick up from the tourist office. This stretch of coast is dotted with watersports centres: Sainte-Marie has a scuba diving centre and lessons or rentals for windsurfing, sea kayaking and paddleboarding. For something with a bit more power, try jetskiing from Torreilles, 15 minutes away, or head up to Le Barcarès for wakeboarding and waterskiing. Spare a day (at least) for a trip up to Perpignan, 20 minutes away by car – it’s a really rather handsome place with a mountainous backdrop and a gorgeous medieval Old Town that shows a lot of Spanish influence (the border is only about half an hour away).
