Set across 15 acres and shaded by olive trees and maquis shrubs, the pitches at Olmeto’s Camping Vigna Maggiore in southern Corsica are spacious and unmarked – sticking to the ways of traditional camping. But everything else is about easy luxury and spectacular views. In fact, there’s pretty much everything you could want when escaping reality for a few days. Open since 1981, this South Corsica site overlooks the stunning Gulf of Valinco. It's less than a five-minute drive from a beach with free parking and under 10 minutes from the lively, scenic seaside resort of Propriano. You get both peace and comfort here. The La Paillote bar-restaurant, which is open throughout the day, overlooks the sea and offers up a delicious rotation of breakfasts, lunches, Mediterranean cuisine and Sunday brunches. Easily keep the family occupied here too: it has a playground, ping pong table and two turquoise swimming pools surrounded by sunloungers and straw parasols. The pools are complemented by an adults-only wellness centre (to be used at an additional fee) with a swimming lane, Jacuzzi, herbal tea room, hammam and – with a reservation – treatments that'll get you feeling properly zen. More leisure facilities and activities are on site, from yoga classes to an outdoor fitness area and a pétanque court. Covering the practicalities are two full amenities blocks on site, alongside a self-service launderette (grab your tokens at reception), a grocery shop that's open during high season only, wifi in the common areas and electric vehicle charging stations. You're also all set for an evening of alfresco cooking too, with gas barbecues available to rent.

喜欢 Nice pitch amongst the trees and listening to the owls. Great view. Good wash facilities. Good customer service - they let us get things from the shop and pay later as we needed to travel to get cash.

不喜欢 Couldn’t really walk anywhere. We tried walking to a beach but too far. But great location in terms of the drive. Note - you need cash to pay. Restaurant was ok if you like pizza!

喜欢 Tolle Lage, schöner, sauberer Platz mit genügend E-Anschlüssen. Pool ist sauber, aber etwas warm. Dass man den Pool nur durch eine Dusche betreten kann, kann schwierig sein. Zu Poolbar und Restaurant kann aufgrund des Negativen keine Aussage getroffen werden.

不喜欢 Sterneabzug ist ausschließlich darin begründet, dass nur mit Bargeld bezahlt werden kann, sowohl an der Rezeption, als auch im Restaurant und an der Bar.
Bei einem Zeltplatz geht das noch, aber mit einem Bungalow wird das hart, wenn täglich nur 200 Euro abgehoben werden können.
Wir wären gern essen gegangen oder hätten was an der Bar getrunken.
Kein Visa, keine Kreditkarte, kein cb zu akzeptieren, geht heutzutage aber gar nicht mehr. So würden wir nicht nochmal dort campen.
Wlan gibt es, aber quasi stündlich mit neuer Anmeldung. Hat uns nicht gestört.
Wer das erste mal campt, sollte woanders hin. Grundwissen muss vorhanden sein, da nicht eingewiesen wird. Stellplatz sucht man sich auch selbst, es gibt keine Zuweisung. Wenn sehr voll kann das schwierig werden, da jeder campt, wie und wo er will und viele unverhältnismäßig viel Raum einnehmen.

Should you tear yourselves away from the pool, you shouldn't be disappointed with what you'll find to do and see nearby. Down on the coast, Propriano (10 minutes’ drive) is a pint-sized seaside resort with sandy beaches, plus sailing charters from the marina, snorkelling and paddleboarding rental. And after all that sporty effort, you can rest up guilt-free in a seafront bar, or kick back in the Thermal Baths of Baracci (10 minutes). Somewhere far above Propriano is hillside Olmeto, with its cosy cafés and local shops for a real taste of Corsican culture. Other hill villages worth a peek include Porto Pollo and Sartène (both 20 minutes). There’s plenty of history around too, with Bronze Age standing stones at the prehistoric site in Filitosa (20 minutes). The island’s pink-hued capital of Ajaccio (an hour) is best-known as the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, and has a cute old town as well as lively nightlife if you fancy staying out late.
