The friendly site staff reckon that the best bet for folks who fancy a day at the beach is Plage de Kerhillio (15 minutes' drive) – as well as the sand and scenic surrounds, here you'll find opportunities for lessons in all kinds of adventurous antics like undersea diving, sand yachting and kitesurfing. Experienced surfers who'd rather someone else lugged the boards around while on hol can also hire their gear here and head straight for the waves. Keeping the kids happy need not be a chore at this family-friendly spot. The site is a five-minute drive from Kart 56, an 800-metre go-karting track where they can put the pedal to the metal in full safety gear and under the watchful eye of expert instructors. Le P'tit Délire play park (10 minutes) is also close at hand with its fab splash zone, slides and kooky contraptions… Further afield, head to the Carnac stones (15 minutes) if you fancy visiting one of the biggest megalithic sites on the planet. For urban outings with a salty flavour, Lorient (35 minutes) and its well-regarded naval history museums are pretty sure to please.
