Weave a scenic and historic Normandy holiday with a stay at Camping Municipal des Bords de l'Aure, set an easy riverside walk away from the town centre of Bayeux and its world-famed tapestry telling the story of the Battle of Hastings and the Norman invasion of England. More recent history can be learnt about around the Normandy D-Day beaches, around 10 minutes' drive away from base. Otherwise opt to try the many outdoor activities in the region, like the 36-hole golf course at Omaha beach 25 minutes' drive away, or the horse riding and watersports centres within 10 kilometres. The Parc Festyland theme park is also only 25 minutes' drive away for a day on the rides. The site has bikes to hire to take to the town or the coast. Also around for guests are a playground, table tennis and a pétanque court. There may be no pool on site, but there's a splendid indoor pool at the Centre aquatique Auréo, which is just five minutes' walk away from the site and free for guests to use. Those activities are sure to give you a healthy appetite, so it's handy that the site has a bread and pastries service.

喜欢 The campsite is very safe, clean and friendly. Staff speak very good English. The site is in walking distance of town and a good central location for sight seeing and exploring. The shower block is very modern, good size cubicles and plenty of them. I have long hair and did struggle to wash the shampoo off due to the fine spray of the showers (I tried a few and they were all the same) but this was easily fixed by taking a beaker in with me to use.
There were snack trucks on site most evenings, I can’t comment on the food as we walked into town or cooked at our Van but the food looked good.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would visit again.

Reception very helpful.
Nice flat pitches a decent size,
Extremely clean modern facilities. Probably the cleanest camp site we’ve been on.

喜欢 Close to Bayeaux centre

不喜欢 Noise (next to a couple of busy roads plus a number of very inconsiderate groups making noise until quite late), ratio of toilets to pitches needs to be increased. Cleaning needs to be more regular. Should be made clear on pitch up that you are required to park in the lay by on the approach road and check in. We didn't see the sign on the road

Please excuse us for the noise problem. Do not hesitate to go to the reception in case of a problem.
The sanitary facilities are multiple: 2 blocks for women, 2 blocks for men, and a family block. A cleaning service is present from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The sanitary facilities are currently cleaned during these hours.
A sign is visible before the campsite entrance indicating how to park before entering the campsite.

喜欢 Staff super friendly and well organised on arrival.
Well maintained site, good layout. Was very busy but didn’t feel it due to layout.
Great modern facilities.
Free WiFi was decent.
Location incredible, gentle 15 minute walk down the beautiful riverside to the Cathedral and town centre.
Perfect location for allied memorial visits.

Take the peaceful stroll or quick bike ride from the site into the centre of Bayeux a kilometre away, home of course to the mammoth Bayeux Tapestry, the 68 metres of 11th-century tapestry depicting the Normandy invasion of England and the subsequent Battle of Hastings. Also in town are the 11th-century Bayeux Cathedral, a British war cemetery, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy and the MAHB art museum, with paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, porcelain and Bayeux lace from throughout the centuries. Another D-Day museum is at Arromanches-les-Bains (10 minutes' drive) and the Normandy landing beaches of Omaha (25 minutes), Juno (25 minutes) and Utah (45 minutes) are all within striking distance. The Caen Memorial, commemorating World War II and the Battle for Caen, is 25 minutes' drive away. Outdoor activities are easily sorted with local horse riding, a couple of kilometres from the site, or with watersports including paddleboarding, sailing and sea kayaking at the nearby Normandy beaches, 10 minutes' drive away. You could also spend a day at the Les etangs de planquery (25 minutes), or take the kids to the Parc Festyland (25 minutes), themed around the events of 1066 and all that.
