If you’re looking for a little wildlife haven with lots of activities to get stuck into during the day and a peaceful place to chill out in the evening, you should certainly take a look at Camping Sérendipité. This Auvergne site is just on the outskirts of the village of Neuvéglise-sur-Truyère, with gorgeous views out over the neighbouring valley. It’s also dotted with trees, adding to the peaceful atmosphere with gorgeous areas of shade, privacy and the sweet smell of pine. If you're ever taken by a sudden urge to go hiking, there are plenty of options, since Camping Sérendipité is straddled between Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne and Aubrac Natural Regional Park (the outskirts of which are both handily within a 15-minute drive). Keener on aquatic destinations? Simply head to Gorges de la Truyère, within five minutes' drive, for waterfront walks and days of fishing. There is also an activity centre half an hour's drive away. There are several châteaux and other attractions around too if that’s more your style. It's a short 10-minute walk into the village from this site, where there is a bakery, a convenience store and a butcher where you can pick up bits for the barbecue back on site (and the village also has a bar where you can fortify yourself for the walk back…) Other facilities on site include a launderette, a washing-up area and bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled access.

喜欢 Tout! Personnel accueillant, le chalet était parfait la vue est superbe. C'est calme et apaisant. Nous avons déguster une délicieuse truffade le soir de notre arrivée . Nous nous y sommes arrêté pour une nuitée car nous nous sommes stoppés pour la nuit avant de rentrer chez nous le lendemain.
Nous y retournerons aux beaux jours pour un séjour plus long pour découvrir la région

喜欢 Beautiful camp site. We loved the terraced pitches and the space allocated to each pitch. The toilets and showers at the reception end were great. Shame that they were not so well maintained at the top of th site..

We ate at the Relais de la Poste on the first night. It wasn't a place recommended by the camp site and we understand why. Be aware that there is nowhere else within walking distance to eat.

不喜欢 Not really anything to dislike, except that we felt that the prices in the shop at the reception were very high. 15 euros for a bottle of wine was explained as being because it was local, but in fact it's easy to get better local wines for considerably less.

Up for a hike? You’ll have plenty of choice when staying here – Camping Sérendipité is sandwiched between the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park and the Aubrac Regional Park, with the borders of both about 15 minutes’ drive away. Prefer watery views? Head down to the Gorges de la Truyère (20 minutes) for waterside walks and fishing days – there’s also an activity centre half an hour away where you can have a go at paddleboarding, canoeing and other watersports or just stretch out on the beach area. Meanwhile, if you’d prefer to dangle in the air, head to Truyère Evasion (15 minutes) for ziplines and a high ropes course or via ferrata climbing. All a bit too energetic? Set off instead to explore hilltop Château d’Alleuze (20 minutes) and the classic medieval turrets of Château de Rochebrune (10 minutes) or feed your brain with the geological exhibits at Museum of Geothermal Energy and Thermalism (15 minutes).
