When it’s time for a back-to-basics, off-grid camping adventure in the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, pack up the tent and all your gear and head for Giltar Grove Camping. Part of a farm with sea views, this family-friendly pop-up site is particularly handy for hikers ‘doing’ the Wales Coast Path, as it’s only five minutes’ walk away. Basic facilities available on site include a toilet of the portable variety, a hot shower, a wash basin and a drinking-water tap on the level camping field. Please note – electricity is not available. Bonuses, however, include easy access off the main road through a farm gate, and parking is allowed next to your tent on the grass pitches. If you’ve packed the barbecue and are keen to get down to some alfresco grilling, pick up provisions in Tenby supermarkets (five minutes’ drive). Alternatively, there’s a farm shop and café within five minutes’ walk, as well as a couple of pubs in Penally (a few minutes’ drive) for the days when you just don’t feel like cooking. Filming of the Doctor Who TV series took place in the adjacent field in early 2023.

喜欢 It was fantastic place to camp, very clean and tidy, all so my two boys love it up there as they had room to run around and play. I would recommend it as it a live family place to camp x

喜欢 Nice pitch, clean toilet and shower with hot water. 5 min walk to coastal path, 2 min walk from farm shop and cafe that does a great breakfast.

喜欢 Gazebo and car were allowed with a tent pitch. Toilet facility was better than expected as the facilities were always clean and stocked with essentials like toilet roll, hand wash and hand towels. The owner was polite and friendly. The shower set up was easy to use and fairly spacious. An affordable stay a short drive to Tenby.

不喜欢 It was a very small site. The road entering and exiting the site was fairly dangerous and visibility was not good. The site wasn't very secure, gate left open all day and night, so not ideal for campers with very young children. Not much space between pitches. Only one toilet and one shower for over 10 pitches. There were only 7 people in total who shared the facilities while we stayed and they were all great, but in peak season, I can imagine, it would have been difficult to use the facilities. No recycling options on site.

喜欢 Shower & toilet facilities were clean & well stocked, on site bin regularly emptied. Great location, spacious pitches. Would highly recommend & will very likely book again in future.

喜欢 Peaceful, green, lovely setting: good location to lovely farm shop 2 minutes walk away and opposite the path to the costal path and a sandy beach a 20 minute walk away. Good shower. Clean toilet, and drinking water and a sink ( old water only)

Several beaches are within walking distance of the campsite, including the dune-backed, crescent-shaped Penally beach (40 minutes’ walk or a five-minute drive), or you can turn west along the Wales Coast Path (five minutes' walk) to the sand-and-shingle cove at Lydstep Haven (15 minutes). From there, just carry on walking; after 40 minutes, Skrinkle Haven beach, encircled by steep cliffs, will hove into view. Turn east for views over to the Cistercian monastery on Caldey Island as you stroll, and you can be in the historic walled town of Tenby in about an hour. There are three sandy beaches on which to plonk yourselves down, as well as a fishing harbour and medieval castle to nose around, and colourful waterfront cottages to admire. If the kids are demanding a treat, you may like to let them be animal keepers for the day at Manor Wildlife Park (five minutes' drive). Younger offspring can run amok on the dinosaur trail at Dinosaur Park (10 minutes) or whizz around the go-kart track and wear themselves out zorbing on the pool. There’s more family fun to be had on the fairground rides at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (15 minutes), where there are also big cats in spacious enclosures, penguins frolicking in their pool and cuddly ponies at the petting farm.
