For more arduous trails, head for the Brecon Beacons National Park (20 minutes). If you’d rather explore the outdoors on two wheels, Brechfa Forest (50 minutes) has some testing mountain-bike trails. You can observe mighty raptors at the Red Kite Feeding Centre (half an hour) and take themed wildlife walks at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (45 minutes).
