Walks in west Wales and pet-friendly stays in a peaceful country setting… what a lovely location is Laugharne View Caravan Site. Bringing a dog along or not, this park on a working smallholding has spectacular views over the Taf estuary and Caldey Island, so it’s a first-rate place for a break soaking up the Carmarthenshire scenery. With paths to ply all around, it’s also a splendid spot for walks that should appeal to those on four legs or two – it’s possible to potter over to Llansteffan, a couple of miles away, directly from the park for visits to a wide sandy beach (make sure to check for seasonal restrictions if you're taking a dog) as well as a castle that dates back to the 12th century. From there, you might choose to extend your walk on the coast path or settle on the beach to fish for flounders and bass. More interested in strolls that result in supper? A pub is within a five-minute walk, and the eateries of Carmarthen – the oldest town in Wales – are just over 20 minutes away by car. If you've got a bit more time in town, ride on the antique Gwili Steam Railway into the hinterlands of the country or stay in Carmarthen to browse the boutiques. If you’re firmly sticking to country pursuits, stay on site to peer at the chickens on the farm, take the dog for a run around the spacious grounds, or set up a camping chair and use the wifi to help build tomorrow’s itinerary. You might also like to pick up a couple of drinks from the site's Hayday bar to complete the picture… The amenities at Laugharne View Caravan Site include a toilet block and a basic shower block. Please note that there is a non-smoking policy in place at this site and that some parts of the site are adults-only.

  • Only breathable awning bases are allowed. Please be mindful of the fact that the site's hillside, coastal location makes it quite exposed if weather warnings are issued. The shower block is unheated with no hot water in the basins. The grass tent and touring pitches are 150m minimum away from toilet/shower block and other facilities. Pitches are subject to indents and may also not be level. The maximum tent size allowed is 5m x 5m. Please note that rural areas can be subject to electrical disruptions. Where notice is provided, you will be informed before your stay.

喜欢: Stunning views to wake up to and watch the sunset. Peaceful small campsite. Gravel pitches were well laid out and maintained with plenty of space. For such a small site everything had been thought of from the clean toilets with toiletries, to the dish wash area with microwave. The bar area was a nice little extra. And the owners are helpful and very friendly. Loved our visit to Llansteffan and Laugharne near by. Note, the site is recycling waste only, no general waste which wasn't a problem. And make sure you approach the site via Llansteffan to avoid narrow lanes.

不喜欢: None, we will definitely be back. Only thing I can think of is a sign as you pull in 'new guest sign in this way' but the bar was easy enough to find.

喜欢: Everything… the views, the location, the facilities, reasonably priced bar and great hosts! Made to feel very very welcome! Added bonus of jump leads to help with a flat battery! After a days fishing there’s no better place to come back to and enjoy a cold beer on draft with a chilled vibe and fantastic views! Thanks guys for the welcome and stay and the jump leads of course!

喜欢: Lovely camp site, friendly hosts. Everything you need for a nice weekend away , great bar on site selling local brew. Very dog friendly and stunning views and very central for sightseeing. Nearest village 5 minutes walk away with great pubs with restaurant. And great fresh eggs for sale. Definitely go back and recommended

If you are using Satnav, please plan your route beforehand to avoid error. The site advises that you arrive via the bus route (227 Carmarthen) through the village of Llansteffan and then follow signs for Llanybri. There are no need to access the site through any gated fields/dirt tracks. The entrance is clearly marked with a large sign.

While Laugharne’s visible from the park, it’s a 25-minute drive away around the estuary to this pretty village famed for its castle and poet Dylan Thomas’ writing shed. For more of the area's history, National Trust attractions further away – like the Roman-era Dolaucothi Gold Mines (an hour’s drive) and the handsome house and park at Dinefwr (50 minutes) – should also feature on your to-do list. Also inland are many adventures, including the mountain biking trails of Brechfa Forest (55 minutes); swing back to the seaside and cycle more sedately along the Millennium Coastal Path if thrill-seeking on two wheels sounds a little bit too much for your tastes. Of course, you’re also never far from the coast in this part of Wales… Pembrey Country Park’s miles and miles of sandy beach are a 45-minute drive away, and the shorelines of the Gower Peninsula and Pembrokeshire are also less than an hour away.
