Piches with coastal views, a short stroll from the beach and an even shorter one to an award-winning pub should always get your holiday vote… add in that Heritage Coast Campsite is adults-only and dog friendly, and you’ll likely hail the site as a winner. Based in Cowbridge, Glamorgan, and 15 minutes’ walk from Cwm Nash Beach along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, the site is served by Teddy’s, a welcoming spot with a well-stocked bar, a log fire to cosy up around in colder weather and a patio for evening drinks and snacks in summer. You can eat breakfast there on Saturday and Sunday – local produce is used in the cooking, while vegetarian options and decent coffees are also available. Should you need sightseeing inspo, there’s tourist information in there too. Otherwise, you have pubs serving supper in Monknash (10 minutes’ walk) and Wick (10 minutes’ drive), and live music in the local pub (five minutes' walk) at the weekend. There’s a small shop in Monknash plus supermarkets in Llantwit Major (10 minutes’ drive), where you can buy barbecue goodies to cook on firepits rented from the site; kiln-dried logs can be bought too. As well as disabled facilities, a utility room and a freezer, on-site amenities include two blocks, each with toilets, showers (there’s a small charge), sinks and a hand dryer, plus a hairdryer in the ladies’ block. Take time at dusk to listen for hooting owls and watch the sunsets from your pitch: Heritage Coast Campsite is in a wildlife haven too…

喜欢 Everything here was wonderful and the people who run the site are friendly, welcoming and inclusive.

We had a lovely time, it was a great location for visiting lots of different places and we would definitely return.

We especially appreciated the advice on the walks and the best time to see the beach based on tide times.

喜欢 I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend here from the warm welcome as I arrived to my packing away my tent just before the rain started! It is a lovely spot with some really nice touches, such as when they pick up your recycling each day and deliver the fire pit and logs to your pitch.
I will definitely be returning as soon as possible.

喜欢 This is by far one of my favourite hidden gem campsites. It's quiet 1 mile from the beach. Dog friendly. Clean facilities. Amazing hosts. Brilliant breakfast roll (weekends only) lovely little bar. Great views! No kids.
So we have now stayed here twice and are returning again (weather permitted). The site is well kept and it is such a lovely site. The Hosts are amazing they make you feel part of their family. They adore (well behaved dogs and owners). Our Dog Quinn knows exactly when we are close to the site as he starts getting excited. The hard part is trying to get him to come home.

喜欢 The cleanliness of the toilets and showers and washing up room. Fairly flat pitch. Could see the sea, which was nice. Very friendly welcome on arrival.

喜欢 Lovely campsite, with super friendly hosts! Really nice to have a bar open all day and a pub just a short walk away. Great views and good stargazing too, would recommend!

喜欢 Lovely clean site, very welcoming staff and a great location for a relaxing break. Keen to recycle, all rubbish was collected from your pitch on a daily basis. Firepits/BBQs available to hire, delivered to and collected from your pitch at the end of your stay. A lovely little on site bar with indoor and outdoor seating which served breakfast cobs in the morning (we didn't have one but they looked very nice) and you're within easy walking distance of a local pub which served great food. There are some lovely walks from site including a lighthouse with stunning views and for those able bodied campers, the walk to the nearest rocky beach to see the cliffs is well worth the trek. Not so easy to get to as there are several stiles to climb so no good if you are your four legged friends aren't flexible. Would definitely go back again

不喜欢 Not enough water points and unfortunately for us, one of the few was situated on our pitch which meant we had regular visitors, not such a problem for us but our dog wasn't as keen. One other thing which is not a criticism as it does say on the website that there is NO elsan point at this campsite. I feel its worth mentioning because if you are like me and skip through the T&C's, you might not notice

Coastal walks, beaches, museums, castles and outdoor activities are all around locally to get stuck into. If you want to stick to the Glamorgan Heritage Coast, it runs for 14 miles from Porthcawl to Aberthawl and has some highly scenic walks as well as even more scenic horse rides to be had on its beaches. You can also try out one of the local surf schools or go fishing nearby at Wick (10 minutes’ drive) or Penarth Beach (40 minutes). Active types can also try their luck at TeamSport Go Karting Cardiff (55 minutes), show their true colours at Taskforce Paintball Games (20 minutes) and have a few rounds of Welsh golf; there are a couple of courses within half an hour by car. Head for Ogmore (15 minutes) or Fonmon (20 minutes) castles to swot up on some Welsh history, and add to your knowledge with a trip to St Fagans National History Museum in Cardiff (40 minutes). The National Trust’s Dyffryn Gardens (half an hour) make an interesting day out for green-fingered types.
