Wave hi to the gorgeous North Wales countryside, where Llyn Rhys Campsite will introduce you to outdoor pursuits in the Clwydian Range and horse-drawn canal boat rides at a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A 15-minute drive away from Llangollen and the UNESCO-listed Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Llyn Rhys Campsite is on a family-run farm in Llandegla with easy access off the A5104. This is an excellent place to make your acquaintance with walking, biking and other outdoor pursuits. Five minutes’ drive away from the farm is a mountain biking trail centre with mountain biking, trail running and walking trails for all abilities and a café. Very conveniently, the Offa’s Dyke Path, tracing the Wales and England border, passes through the middle of the farm too. For other days out, ask the site to help you plan more walks, as there are plenty to choose from. Really, what a spot… Llyn Rhys Campsite is at the start of the Clwydian Range, a series of hills in northeast Wales running down to Prestatyn. The highest point is the popular Moel Famau, 25 minutes’ drive away. In the opposite direction, Llangollen is in the middle of the Dee Valley, where there are more stunning landscapes. In Llandegla Forest (15 minutes’ drive), the RSPB also organises nightjar and black grouse walks during the spring. This friendly site has well-maintained facilities including showers, toilets and a washing-up room. There’s plenty of space in the almost-flat fields, including for dogs. Campfires are welcome; rent a fire basket and buy some wood to set yourself up for a cosy eve. There’s wifi, a village shop and café 15 minutes’ walk away and four towns within driving distance for other supplies.

喜欢: The owners were lovely and helpful , you get a little tour of the facilities when you first arrive. The land with the pitches was bigger than expected, plenty of space to be separated from other campers if wanted. Plenty of trails near by as your in eye view of llandegla forest.

喜欢: Great little place, great location, host attentive ensuring you have the right plot, we arrived a lil early on site so waiting for check in, no major problem to wait 10/20mins and were offered a cup of coffee while we waited in the sun. Facilities are all clean & well kept.

喜欢: Tidy well set out, friendly welcome. Warm wash up and toilets. Good facilities for an essential chair user. Bring shower sandals - the cold floor makes you wince.

喜欢: The toilets were clean

不喜欢: Got told to turn our music off at 7 pm when it said online and the owner told us no music after 10 pm there was only one other tent on our campsite aswell . We know that the music wasn’t loud as previously some of us had been out of the tent to the toilet block next to the house and couldn’t hear anything.

来自经理: Hello, After showing a camper where to pitch his tent, I approached this group of 4 and asked if they could turn the sound to their film down as the night went on as it was rather loud. There was no mention of turning it off. There were 4 other campers in the field and I do monitor noise so that all parties have a pleasant stay.

Where might a five-minute drive get you? To fisheries, Llandegla Laser Combat and the Fauxdegla Shooting Ground for quick entertainment, perhaps. Llangollen (15 minutes' drive) is tempting too, whether for steam train trips and horse-drawn canal boats over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct or festivals like the International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen Food Festival and Llangollen Fringe Festival. For urban action, Bala (35 minutes) is a historic market town with watersports activities and the Vale of Clwyd (from 15 minutes) has more historic market towns, including Ruthin, Denbigh and St Asaph. Catch a theatre show in Mold (20 minutes) or the footie in Wrexham (20 minutes), before hitting up the cities. Chester (35 minutes) has Roman walls, a cathedral, the Rows shopping street and a Roman amphitheatre, while Liverpool (an hour) has several Beatles locations to visit. At Zip World Fforest (50 minutes), you might conquer a fear or two on Europe’s highest swing and the 21 zipwires and rope bridges that make up their treetop adventure course.
