How does a peaceful hol in the very northern reaches of north Wales sound? If the answer’s an instant 'yes please', give Pencraig Campsite a go: it's in the Anglesey countryside on a smallholding next to a field full of ponies overlooking grassy green meadows. Pencraig Campsite has a good range of amenities, with modern toilets and showers plus a washing-up area. The sunset views are excellent from this site, creating a serene setting in which to stoke up the barbecue at the end of a day beachcombing around the lovely Isle of Anglesey. Shores within easy driving distance include Porth Trwyn and Church Bay (both 15 minutes); the latter has a café for filling up at as well as a small museum in an old thatched 17th-century cottage. For other eats, the local village of Valley is a five-minute drive from the site just off the island’s main coastal road with its pubs, takeaways, small shops and petrol station. A few bigger supermarkets are on the way to Holyhead less than 10 minutes’ drive away; come here for birdwatching too as it’s the gateway to scenic cliffside walks with the potential for puffin spotting at RSPB South Stack (20 minutes away). If you’ve brought a four-legged friend on the trip – as dogs are welcome at Pencraig Campsite – plenty of places for walkies are about, including around the colourful disused copper mine at Parys Mountain (half an hour away).

Only a suggestion.. showers could do with curtain to stop bench getting drenched.

喜欢 Wonderful location, the toilet and shower facilities were excellent, hot showers, just what's needed after a day at the beach. Loved the firepits (although we didnt use one) water and electric suitable at pitches.

喜欢 The location is perfect for a ferry stop over, providing a very peaceful site but with very easy access off the A55.
The pitches are good sized with water and electric points easily accessible, the shower block is exceptionally clean and spacious.

喜欢 The campsite was very tidy and well kept, nice to have electric and water on pitch.
The shower block was very nice, great amount of warm weather.

不喜欢 The amount of toilets available within the shower block, do wonder what it would be like if the site was full.
The washing up area, was situated outside with one sink. Which was full off leaves and not kept clean. It didn’t have a roof over the top, hence the leaves.
There was outside toilets but not unlocked which would have been useful as there was no where to tie dogs up when I needed the toilet.
We never managed to see the owners of the campsite due to arriving late, so we were not given any local information.
I do not know if there was anywhere to freeze ice block over night!!!

喜欢 Absolutely EVERYTHING ! ❤️ Alice and Gill were absolutely wonderful hosts. Jimmy also 🙌 The Pencraig Camping site was clean, beautifully kept and landscaped, set in a breathtaking, wild, beautiful area of Anglesey, with majestic, scenic views of the Welsh mountains, peaceful, idyllic green fields with local Ponies and livestock grazing. The whole time silent near the tent was blessed with swallows and swifts swooping and whistling by, with Song thrushes, Blackbirds, Wrens, Robins, Gold and Bull finches regularly visiting from the beautiful Cherry tree hedging surrounding the pitches.
A regular 61 bus service runs to Holyhead every 2 hours or so, and is virtually right outside the Camping site entrance.

The shower, toilet blocks, and washing up area were immaculate, clean, and a great help after long days out.

Fraser and his lovely wife provided us with fresh, large, newly laid duck eggs, from their amazing home farm at the edge of camp,,which were some of the tastiest we've ever eaten!

Hoping to visit this beautiful site again , if not before October, then definitely next year.

喜欢 Fantastic campsite in a glorious location. Everywhere was clean and well kept, everyone was quiet, respectful and friendly and the showers are the best we've experienced anywhere.

不喜欢 It was windy and we had to take the trailer tent awning down - that's North Wales for you though and nothing that could be helped.

喜欢 The use of a fridge to store food in during the heatwave was an absolute Godsend. The fantastic shower and toilet block. The location of the spotlessly clean site, stunning views including the nearby horses and cows.

不喜欢 The washing up area is in need of a makeover, but I know the owners have plans for this in the future.

Anglesey has numerous beaches to comb, including the quiet bay of Rhoscolyn (15 minutes' drive away) with calm, shallow water for paddling or kayaking and Traeth Llydan (20 minutes), a wide, sandy stretch of coastline. Llanddwyn Island is 45 minutes away – visit at low tide to reach it via the sand. For age-old history in between submerges in the sea, the Neolithic-era Barclodiad y Gawres burial chamber is 15 minutes’ drive away and the Bryn Celli Ddu Burial Chamber takes 25 minutes to reach for investigating Wales’ prehistoric history. Slightly more recent heritage can be had on tours of Beaumaris’ castle and old jail; the pretty seaside village is also tiptop for shopping in small independent boutiques and filling up in traditional pubs. Off Anglesey, about an hour and five minutes’ drive away, is the base of Wales’ biggest mountain, Snowdon. If your legs are feeling up to it, hike to the summit – or just take the train…
