What a spot – family-run Isle of Anglesey site Maes Tywyn Campsite is in a splendid setting with peaceful surrounds, easy access to walks and beaches, and village amenities less than a mile away. This nifty location is a 10-minute trot from the little village of Newborough (or Niwbwrch if you’re practising your Welsh lingo) – there’s a pavement all the way along the road so you should have a safe enough saunter to the village’s café, chip shop, convenience store or pub. If you’d like your eats even closer you can either light up a barbie or meander along to the great fish and chip shop half a mile down the road. Getting out to the rest of the island is a cinch from here: there are plenty of places to walk in the surrounds (perennial fave spot Ynys Llanddwyn is an hour away on foot), and you can get to even the most far-flung beaches with a drive of half an hour or so. Fancy ditching the car for a day? There’s a bus stop a short walk away for buses to Bangor and beyond. Back at base, peaceful times are very much encouraged – there’s heaps of space to chill out here with gorgeous views towards Snowdonia by day and a fab array of stars overhead after dark (clouds permitting, of course). There’s also a playground for the small sorts to scamper about in; and it’s been cleverly kitted out with benches for restful parental supervision.

喜欢: Came for the weekend with my mum, on arrival we were greeted by lovely friendly owners Jane and Terry. The field has good ground and the tent pegs went in without hitting rocks which was refreshing! The bathroom was lovely and clean daily, good strong shower and the toilets flushed well! (Small things like this I feel make a stay much more pleasant). Ideally situated site in my opinion for a 10 minute walk upto the pub, chip shop and convenience store The beach is a nice 40 minutes walk away but it's a nice walk and if we'd have had bikes with us they would have been ideal! Over all the site has all the basics you need and we couldn't have asked for more. I'll be recommending the site to friends and family and hopefully be returning soon.

不喜欢: No reflection on the site but we unfortunately had some noisy people next to us who had no respect for others around them. Had this many times at other places and sadly humanity has lost a lot of common sense and decency. Again no reflection on the site or Jane and Terry, they have a lovely campsite and one we'd like to return to soon.

喜欢: Warm welcome from the owners and really clean facilities. Kitchen area very handy with a kettle and charging points. Level ground for the tent and had great phone signal.

喜欢: Small campsite, friendly welcome, good facilities, toilets, hot showers, washing up area and a small kitchen area with charging ports, kettle and microwave. Also a play area for the kids. Exceptional dark sky area...the amount of stars you can see is amazing!

喜欢: This campsite is great. Everything you need is taken care of. I especially like the kettle, which means I don't have to fire up the stove for a cuppa. There is also a freezer and 3 fridges for campers use.

当地景点

If you only see one attraction on Anglesey it really must be Ynys Llanddwyn, the little rocky outcrop named after the Welsh patron saint of lovers. The best way to get there from the site is to head out on foot, walking to the lighthouse and ruined chapel through the Newborough Forest. Pack a picnic to scoff on next-door Newborough beach, and perhaps bring binoculars in case any seals are swimming in the area. Should you have a bit longer (and really you should), there’s plenty more to keep you busy around the island. Family days out include pony rides and animal feeding frenzies at Foel Farm (10 minutes’ drive), getting to know the sea-dwelling critters at Anglesey Sea Zoo (10 minutes) and viewing the vintage vehicles at Tacla Taid Anglesey Transport Museum (five minutes). If you’ve a head for history, take days out at Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes), Plas Newydd House and Gardens (15 minutes) or the ruins of Aberlleiniog Castle (half an hour), or scooch back over to the mainland to the castles in Caernarfon (25 minutes), Conwy (35 minutes) and Criccieth (50 minutes).
