Just 100 metres from the sea, Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a rather splendid base for a break in north-west Wales. This family-friendly site is a five-minute stroll from Barmouth’s promenade, and sandy Barmouth beach is a pleasant 15 minutes’ walk away – or a quick ride on the small land train that travels up and down the promenade. When you’re not sea fishing from the shore, taking a peaceful paddle or watching the kids bounce on the trampolines on the beach, head to Barmouth Harbour (half an hour’s walk), the departure point for boat trips and off-shore fishing. An amusement park and leisure centre are other entertainment options in town, where foodies will find plenty of cafés and restaurants. Hendre Mynach Caravan and Camping Park is a convivial spot: families, couples, friendly bikers and rallies (outside of peak season, please) are all welcome, as are backpackers and solo travellers (at a discount during low season). There’s a playground for the kids, and keen cyclists are also catered for: National Cycle Route 8 runs past the site. It’s well equipped too, with water on all pitches, washing-up facilities and a free and modern shower block with shaver points, hairdryer and straighteners. There’s also a launderette, baby-change facilities with a baby bath, Elsan waste disposal points, a drive-on motorhome drain, tarmac roads and CCTV. Helpful staff are available 24 hours a day, gas and wifi are sold at reception, and there’s a shop on site, plus a local bus stop nearby.

喜欢: Had a fantastic weekend at Hendre Mynach. The pitch was super, the staff were really helpful. Clean facilities. Close to the beach. Loved it all round.

喜欢: Good pitches and well laid out. Very clean and staff friendly. Good services overall.

不喜欢: Shwoer blocks closed during busiest tiemusch as 8-00.9-30 sugggest move to later 12-1 as most people out then. Pitc lcose to train line so can be noisy

来自经理: Thank you for your review, to note for other campers we have 2 toilet blocks, one of which is cleaned in the quieter times of 8am to 9 / 9.30am where customer traffic is at its lowest. If we move the toilet block cleaning then the accommodation cleaning would have to move and the earliest arrival times would also have to move to a later time due to the displacement of staff

喜欢: The view was gorgeous. The water tap just outside was really handy. Staff were friendly

不喜欢: The toilets were closed from 8am -9.30am just at the time people mostly needed them, however there was another block but it was a bit of a walk

喜欢: We stayed for a few nights here & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site is excellent in an idyllic location & is clean & well maintained with level pitches. Staff were helpful & friendly & despite arriving after reception had closed, we were greeted immediately & guided to our pitch. There is a little shop selling some essentials, once again ran by friendly polite staff. Look forward to returning again soon. Thank you for an enjoyable stay...

If you are arriving by train, there is a public footpath from the promenade that has access to the site through a gate. The burial site of Cors y Gedol (10 minutes’ drive) dates from about 4000 BC. Not much is left of the original stone mound, but the sea views alone are well worth the hike, plus you can push on to climb the slopes of Moelfre from here. If mountains are your thing, check out Penygader (35 minutes) and Snowdon (50 minutes), Wales’s highest peak. Got your mountain bike with you? Coed y Brenin Forest Park (half an hour) has eight purpose-build trails catering to all abilities and a skills area to practise your bunny hops, plus hiking paths taking in ruined copper mines, viewpoints and waterfalls. Speaking of which, at Dolgoch Falls (45 minutes), forested trails take you up close and personal to the cascades. At the Italianate-style village of Portmeirion (35 minutes), elegant architecture, pastel-coloured houses and lush subtropical gardens will have you believe you’re in Portofino. Stop for afternoon tea and don’t forget to buy some pottery.
