Originally a drovers' inn, The Crown Inn is a handsome Grade II-listed pub sitting in a peaceful position by the river Alwen in the pretty North Wales village of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr. Lying just behind the pub and skirted by ancient woodland, the pub's laidback camping area has easy access to forest trails, fishing on the riverbank and drinks in the bar. Access to The Crown Inn and Campsite is via a ford crossing that crosses the river – an exciting and intrepid journey that's sure to hold particular appeal for younger guests. A short wander away, there's a small waterfall that cascades down from the top of the woods into the river below – keep an eye out for fairies around here, as they're known to hang around in the area by the wooden bridge… Facilities here consist of well-maintained compost toilets and a washing-up area on site. There's access to The Crown Inn's bar and restaurant, which serve up good food and drinks throughout the week. Looking for things to do during your down-time? Relax by the riverbank, try a spot of catch-and-return fishing in the Alwen or fix yourself a firepit. You can also book some time at the site's private alpaca paddock to feed The Crown Inn's friendly boys, or sign up to an alpaca walk through the surrounding countryside with a woolly companion by your side.

喜欢: Such welcoming hosts. Pub is really friendly and beer garden is beautiful. Lots of nice touches to the campsite, like the sheltered eating area. Our little boy absolutely loved the alpacas and the alpaca walk is great value.

喜欢: The area is absolutely gorgeous and the pitches are lovely. It’s a small quiet camp which is nice if you are expecting to go to bed early! The manager Rich and his wife are absolutely lovely and go above and beyond to ensure you’re having a nice stay. Could not recommend it enough!

喜欢: Nice little quiet campsite in deep dark wales. You have to drive through a fast flowing river to get to the pitch! They had some alpacas which was cool. It's family friendly but there is not really anything for the kids to do except for look at the alpacas and amuse themselves, bigger kids could maybe paddle but the water is quite fast flowing for the little kids. Basic compost toilet and washing up station. Friendly staff!

Alpaca Area - Oak 钟型帐篷 (可容纳四人)

喜欢: The staff were super friendly and welcoming. The campsite was so beautiful and clean. We stayed in a bell tent in the alpaca enclosure and the bell tent was beautifully presented and clean. Staying with the alpacas was a beautiful experience and we will definitely want to visit again. We also went for a meal at the pub, absolutely delicious and super friendly staff. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Bed-in-a-shed 微型屋舍

喜欢: This place is a little gem. A quiet and friendly campsite along side a beautiful little river. Lots of fresh air and nature, feeding the alpacas was a fab little treat. We stayed in a 'bed in a shed' which was comfortable, warm and clean. The hospitality from the owners and their family was something rarely seen nowadays and the homemade food in the pub was delicious. Thank you Rich & Caroline

Alpaca Area - Ash 钟型帐篷 (可容纳四人)

喜欢: A gem of a campsite for all ages paired with a lovely pub for food and drinks. The hosts were very welcoming and personable, available for anything you needed. We stayed in the alpaca enclosure and really enjoyed our stay and would definitely visit again.

There's plenty to do hereabouts, whether you're inclined to go off gallivanting through the hills of Snowdonia National Park (from 15 minutes' drive), boating on Bala lake (20 minutes) or heading out to see cool castles like the one at Conwy (45 minutes). The village of Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr is in a central location in North Wales, so both the north and west coasts of the country are within an hour's drive too. If you've got kids or teens to keep entertained, popular options to keep them busy include Go Below Underground Adventures (20 minutes), a caving outfit based in Betws-y-Coed, the woodland rides and activities at Zip World Fforest (25 minutes) or taking a trip to see the many species of animals and birds at the Welsh Mountain Zoo (50 minutes). For something silent and serene instead, take a soothing stroll around the grounds of Clocaenog Forest (five minutes; free parking available at Bod Petryal car park), keep your eyes and ears peeled for osprey at Llyn Brenig (15 minutes) or appreciate the horticultural offerings on display at Caerau Gardens (25 minutes).
