You may possibly hear the sound of a few animals in neighbouring fields, the odd tractor going about its business or children playing in a distant part of the farm, but otherwise it’s a very peaceful rural setup on site at Kingsettle Camping Retreat, in the Somerset countryside about 10 minutes’ drive from Bruton. This is a place that’s all about enjoying nature – pitches are mown into a meadow, so you’ll be surrounded by wild grasses and flowers and may well share your space with all sorts of wildlife. Firepits are provided so you can cook dinner over a campfire while watching the sun set or keep warm while looking up into a canopy of stars overhead. Supplies for your campfire or picnic can be picked up in Bruton, which has plenty of independent shops along with a collection of lovely places to eat if you’d rather treat yourselves. There are a few country pubs around too – one of the best locally is about a five-minute drive or 45-minute walk away. Back at base, facilities have been kept simple but all essentials are covered – guests have access to toilets, showers, a washing-up area, chemical disposal and places to charge gadgets. As this site is just on the edge of the Cranborne Chase National Landscape, you won’t be short of places for a scenic walk or bike ride nearby. Kingsettle is also in a handy spot for getting out and about, as within a 10-minute drive, guests can get to Stourhead's house and gardens, Hauser & Wirth Somerset or The Newt in Somerset. Also catch an event at The Bath & West Showground (20 minutes’ drive), mingle with the animals at Longleat’s safari park (25 minutes) or soak up the views at Stonehenge (35 minutes).

喜欢 A wonderful campsite, gloriously peaceful and full of wildlife. Set amidst rolling countryside, the pitches are really huge and flat with mown paths through the wildflower meadow. Jenny has worked tirelessly to make sure that everything is right for a peaceful camping experience. There are hot showers, under cover washing up sinks, a room with a table tennis table in and a freezer to recharge icepacks. The composting loos are kept very clean as are all other facilities. There are 17 pitches, but even when full, you feel as if you are on your own. Thank you Jenny for a wonderful stay.

喜欢 I stayed 2 nights in my campervan. It was perfect for me and my two dogs. I loved how small the site is and that you have an assigned pitched. The map on entry is great. The pitches are so spacious. I'm a solo women camper and I felt very safe here. Jenny is lovely. I like that she comes round to check on things and we chatted several times. My dogs can be a bit barky but she was very accommodating and I felted welcomed.
The weather was hot so we chilled by the van mostly but it was a beautiful place to be. The way the pitches are laid out I could walk the dogs around the site and not get in any ones way. The facilities are all there, yes they are composting loos but work perfectly fine and were clean. Showers are spacious and just warm enough. There is even the facility to charge phones etc so I was able to charge my power bank before I left for my next campsite. If you want a quiet, safe, idyllic setting this is definitely a perfect option.

喜欢 Quiet location, adults only, clean facilities and friendly owner. Fantastic large pitches so you're not on top of each other. Never had to queue for loo or shower even on busy bank holiday weekend.

喜欢 Lovely clean and well run site. Beautiful countryside views. So nice to sit by the fire pit in the evenings. The lady who runs the site is so friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return. Adults only, so that was nice too
