Primrose Camping

There is plenty to explore from Primrose, whether guests want to head out on foot or use the campsite as a base for discovering North Dorset and the surrounding area. Wonderful countryside walks can be started directly from the farm, with quiet lanes, footpaths and the rolling landscape of the Blackmore Vale all around. Shaftesbury, Sturminster Newton and Gillingham are all around four miles away. Shaftesbury is particularly well known for historic Gold Hill, while all three towns provide a useful choice of independent shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants and everyday essentials. Stourhead and its famous landscape gardens are within easy reach, as are Sherborne, the Cranborne Chase countryside and numerous pretty Dorset and Somerset villages. For food and drink closer to home, Primrose has its own farm shop and café, selling seasonal organic produce from the farm alongside locally sourced food, pastries and good coffee during opening hours. The campsite is also conveniently placed for guests travelling further west. With the A303 approximately 20 minutes away, Primrose can make a peaceful short-break stop on journeys towards Devon and Cornwall — with considerably more countryside and dark sky than the average motorway stop.
