A little slice of heaven in Devon, say the owners… and it’s pretty easy to see why. Lakemoor Devon Campsite’s location is indeed rather dreamy, on the banks of the River Taw (with a beach area giving access for swims, paddles and launching kayaks or paddleboards) and with a lake thrown in for good measure too. This is a family-run smallholding spread over five acres, which you’ll share with the resident goats, geese and chickens. There’s plenty of ground to go around though, so you’ll have ample space for things like games, campfires (in the firepits provided, please), barbecues and generally scampering about in the open air. Now, if you lived in a place like this, you’d want to do your best to preserve it as it should be, right? And so it is with the Lakemoor team too: this is an eco-friendly place with compost toilets, recycling and solar lighting, plus pick-ups for those travelling by public transport (Eggesford railway station is a couple of minutes’ drive away). Despite its rural outlook, this is a site that’s surprisingly easy to access, as it’s just off the A377 Exeter to Barnstaple road (and a little over half an hour’s drive from both). Local settlements are somewhat smaller, but guests have access to a village shop, pub and curry house in the villages of Chawleigh and Chumleigh (both about five minutes’ drive away).

The Pyrapod 小木屋 (仅限成人)

喜欢 Justin was lovely, explained everything clearly so we were all set up and ready to go. The pod itself was clean, had everything we would need and the outside toilet was fully stocked with toilet roll and sanitizer. The views were stunning and such a quiet relaxed place. We will definitely be back hopefully yearly, this place is a hidden gem 💎

喜欢 Just what we needed. Very quiet operational farm. Has a lake and a river. You can feed the animals if you want. Really helpful friendly welcome from Justin and his good lady. Cant fault it.

喜欢 Three families enjoyed a wonderful camping experience at this lovely little farm. The friendly owners took the children to feed the animals each evening and shared fascinating facts about them. Our tents overlooked the animal area, and the stream was perfect for paddling. A warm, welcoming place created with great care—we'll definitely be back!

喜欢 Really liked this campsite. Me and my partner just wanted a nice relaxing weekend before the school holidays crazy with the kids and we had exactly that.
It was very peaceful and relaxing!
The animals there are lovely, I really enjoyed feeding and petting them.
The showers/toilet were nice and clean and the toilet was kept stocked with toilet roll.
The fridge in the shop was really useful.
The owners was lovely and really helpful, we have a roof tent so the car isn’t really usable once we have set up and our gas canister run out mid breakfast and they had a spare gas cooker we could use to finish cooking the bacon and then the lady picked us up a canister for us while she was out, it saved our whole trip.

不喜欢 Not the sites fault but the river isn’t really ideal for paddle boarding when there isn’t much rain, it to gets shallow in places.

喜欢 The owners were very friendly and we loved the animals. The shower had good pressure and was hot. There was access to a small fridge and small freezer. Good value for money.

喜欢 A really lovely camp site that values our environment.
A warm welcome and everyone went out of their way to make sure our stay was the best it could be.
Child & Dog friendly which is always a bonus. Access to the river and camping tables by the river were lovely.

不喜欢 No path on road to get to the lovely pub/ hotel just up the road.

Time out in the open air here can be spent playing golf (there’s an 18-hole course five minutes away in Chumleigh), taking walks through the hundred-year old Eggesford Forest (five minutes’ drive) or tackling the Tarka Trail by bike – the UK’s longest off-road cycle trail passes handily close to the site. There’s no fishing in the river on site, so if you want to give your angling kit some action, you’ll need to head to Stafford Moor Fishery (15 minutes). If you’d rather head inside for some watery activity, there’s a pool in South Molton (20 minutes) – while you’re here, pay a visit to the Quince Honey Farm for beekeeping demonstrations and a great soft play area. To meet bigger creatures, take yourselves to Watertown Llamas (10 minutes) or choose something a bit more exotic with an outing to Exmoor Zoo (40 minutes). Or of course you could swap countryside time for coast time – the beaches at Saunton Sands and Westward Ho! are about a 45-minute drive from Lakemoor.
