Avon Tyrrell Outdoor Activity Centre and Campsite

喜欢 The location was fantastic apart from being in the flight path of the airport but that didn't bother us. Loads for the kids to do at a cost, bring your bikes as there's trails to go round. Fishing was fantastic loads of carp, dont use maggots because you won't have time to rest with all the little roach in there! They feed off the top soon as you put in.

不喜欢 Don't expect a green field to pitch on, cause its a dust field, you need a metal hammer and rock pegs as its like going into concrete.

喜欢 The openess of the campsite. The politness of staff. Having a shop and cafe on site. Even though we didn’t do the activities, we liked the idea that we could do them.

不喜欢 Shared toilet/shower units (men and women)
We did expect to be near the lake but enjoyed the campsite.
Would have like aome shade next to the tent.

喜欢 The space, the activities, the shop and the cafe.

不喜欢 The fact that a lot of people clearly didn't read the site rules before going and they didn't seem to be rigorously enforced. i.e: Not loud music on site. loads of people not following that one! At least 90% of people followed the quiet after 10pm rule which meant toe kids could sleep! There are mixed toilet/shower facilities on this site which made it easier for families to use but there were men going to the loo with the cubical doors open... Awkward! and there were club groups using the facilities where the kids were not supervised and left the area completely saturated and very muddy. Oh and be warned its on the Bournemouth flight path.....

喜欢 We stayed in the meadow it was a good size pitch the children enjoyed the play parks and traversing walls
Fire pits were nice to sit around in the evenings
We booked two activities climbing and archery for the children and they enjoyed themselves
The showers were hot and toilets clean
The use of a Fridge and freezer was a nice touch by reception

喜欢 The activities available were easy to book and reasonable price, inclusive and well organised. The staff were super happy and helpful. Functional toilet and showers with plenty of hot water. Site was well maintained and clean and tidy.

不喜欢 Everything seemed very dated. Our pitch had a tap on it which was handy apart from everyone else wanted to use it even though there were 2 other taps a few feet away. We kept telling everyone our dog didn’t like strangers and she was tied up at all times, but these stupid people kept walking through our pitch to get to this tap or take a short cut to the road!!!
Shame you can’t see much of the lake and walk all the way round to spectate. Most is covered by bushes. The other smaller lake is just full of plants and needs clearing.

喜欢 Had a great 4 day stay.
There's oodles to do from archery, paddle boarding, kayaking, arial rope walks, zip lining and many more, plus you can hire bikes.
It's a large site with electric and non electric hook ups, lodges and places for camper vans and caravans. Nice sized pitches.
We camped with an electric hook up and were situated near the lake which had its own toilets, showers and wash up block. The toilets and showers were lovely and we never had to queue for them.
The site itself isn't far from plenty of places to visit like Christchurch, Ringwood, Highcliffe castle, Beaches, etc. The on site shop has a few tent spares, toys, info leaflets on places to visit and the staff are lovely. There is also an on site cafe which looked quite popular.
We went early August and although it was busy it never felt crowded.

不喜欢 The ground is very hard so make sure you pack plenty of heavy duty pegs!!! There was also a slight hill where we pitched which made for some interesting sleeping 😁.
The toilets while lovely could have done with some TLC during the day as they were somewhat messy with toilet paper and water on the floor, a minor thing overall.
The signage for reception wasn't really clear from the drive and caused a little confusion on arrival.
You are on a flight path so it can be noisy at times but we found it exciting to see the planes go over.
