Whether you’re looking for walks, beach days or just some quiet time amid gorgeous scenery, a stay at Bear and Cedar Camping should suit you rather well. This friendly family-run East Sussex site is just on the eastern edge of the South Downs National Park, about 10 minutes’ drive from Lewes: an excellent location for countryside and coast adventures. Groups, families, couples and solo travellers are all welcome here, as are dogs. There’s a fabulous five acres to play with here, but guest numbers are always kept manageable to make sure there’s plenty of space for everyone to relax and for kids to play games safely. Simple facilities on site include modern and regularly cleaned bathrooms (with showers and toilets) along with firepit hire for outdoor evenings stoking the flames as the sun sets. Lewes is a handy place to find supplies for such events, but you won’t have to go that far if you just fancy a pint, some chips or a coffee – Ringmer is about a mile away, with takeaways, cafés and pubs, and there’s another pub even closer at five minutes’ walk. All of this means time spent on site is pretty lovely – but the location also means you should certainly be getting out and about as much as you can. There are plenty of walking and cycling trails around here, plus farm and adventure attractions for the kids and a tempting winery for the grownups.

不喜欢 There was a kennels or similar nearby - very loud dog barking from early hrs onwards. Very disruptive to sleep if you're in a tent.

喜欢 We had a very friendly welcome. The site is big, clean and family friendly. The toilets and showers are placed in single unisex cabins. They are sufficiently big, practical equipped and clean.

喜欢 Great set up for such a new site. Toilets and showers are some of the best we've seen.
Bear and G were great hosts, super friendly and attentive. The plans for the future of the site sound really exciting.
Plenty of walking and hiking close by. Pubs and coffee within short walking distance. The town of Lewes is close by and lots to do there, along with great travel links by bus or train to Brighton, London and beyond.

喜欢 This is a new site I haven’t been to before and I was amazed at the standard of the showers and toilets absolutely top notch in my eyes it’s obvious that the owners have worked very hard to create a beautiful place with relaxed vibes and chilled atmosphere absolutely coming back and looking forward to seeing this lovely site again and again top place

不喜欢 Large groups with loud music with no regard for people with children. Nobody on site to keep order. Potential for trouble. Kept up till 1am two nights in a row

We are so sorry you were disturbed by the group over the weekend. We were on site and trying to manage it, unfortunately this group had little regard for anyone else or the facilities we work hard to maintain.

To explain - this group had booked individually, only appearing as a group after arrival - it is a strict rule upon booking that we do not allow adult groups, however they decided this did not apply to them. For this exact reason.

As a result we have had some unhappy campers which is devastating to us, as we work hard to keep our site a peaceful and calm one, as usual - the actions of a few have ruined the weekend for the many.

Our sincerest apologies that these people kept you up and disturbed you. They will not be welcome back to our site.

喜欢 The Bear and Cedar campsite is a very nice campsite for one or more days. We stayed there for 3 days to visit Brighton. This campsite is perfectly accessible by public transport, just outside Ringmer. The owner is super friendly and hospitable. He has built 5 small cottages on the grounds, two of which have showers and 3 have toilets. The campsite is perfectly situated for walks in the incredibly beautiful surroundings. Other reviews mention the barking of dogs from the nearby kennel. This is true, but we did not find it disturbing.
