Not one national park, but two – with a National Landscape area thrown in for good measure. That’s what you get at Dales and Trails, a small, family-run and exclusive-use campsite on the edge of the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park. It’s also in pole position for excursions to the Lake District National Park or Forest of Bowland National Landscape (both around 40 minutes’ drive). Based on a working farm with views to the Three Peaks near Giggleswick (10 minutes), this rural site is also in a dark-skies area, so make sure you cosy up around the firepit on clear nights for the chance to watch the stars glittering across the heavens. Facilities here have been nicely thought out: guests have access to smart modern shower rooms with underfloor heating (bliss on a brisk Yorkshire day) and luscious toiletries provided. There are many scenic walks straight from the site, so dog owners, bring your pets too and exercise them among the untamed Dales scenery. Cyclists and bikers can relax, happy in the knowledge that there’s dry, secure storage for bicycles and motorbikes, and drivers can charge their electric vehicles too (for a small fee).

喜欢 The beautiful location & the warm welcome from our lovely hosts who showed us around the site, recommended local walks & places to eat, brought us a fire pit & wood & generally made us feel very well looked after indeed. The showers & toilets were kept spotless throughout our 3 night stay.

不喜欢 Unfortunately the shower pressure dropped off quite a lot. Would have scored 10/10 if not for this.

喜欢 Great location with amazing views. Wanted to do some walking whilst here however the weather had a different idea.
Facilities are great with under floor heating. WIFI works throughout the site.

不喜欢 The couples that stayed in the Cabin were very noisy playing loud music and singing very loudly, not all the time, but was a shame as we thought it would be a very quiet site.

喜欢 We had a great weekend at Dales and Trails. The site is really peaceful, the views are gorgeous and it's in the perfect place to head out on foot or in the car for hikes or walks. It's also in a great spot to watch the sunset and stargaze.

The owners are lovely and easy to contact if needed.

It also has the best toilet and shower facilities of any site we've stayed at, they're very modern and incredibly well maintained.

喜欢 Both shower rooms were immaculate and had underfloor heating
Separate toilets and washing up area. Pitches well spaced
Lovely setting with animals all around
Owners were friendly and helpful with local knowledge and routes

Lots of walking options from site - we walked to settle through giggleswick and from site around the back to Clapham, Austwick then Rind and back to site

不喜欢 Only issue I found was next time I'll take a smaller towel for a bathmat as getting out the showers could be slippy if stepping straight onto tile
Some pitches required a ehu extension not all

喜欢 Everything! The pitch was perfect, the view was perfect, the toilets and showers were spotless, washing up area- amazing. The location is great for exploring the area. The hosts were very friendly too!

The energetic among you will no doubt relish the challenge of hiking the Three Peaks (it’s 10 minutes’ drive to Ingleborough), or try climbing at Castleberg Rock (10 minutes) and fell running directly from the campsite. But there’s plenty of low-octane fun to be had too: have a potter around Malham Cove (25 minutes), or spot the stream trains chugging across sweeping Ribblehead Viaduct (25 minutes). Pretty Dales towns to explore include Hawes (40 minutes), where you can learn about local life in the Dales Countryside Museum and taste award-winning cheeses at Wensleydale Creamery. The market town of Giggleswick and its close neighbour Settle (10 minutes) are both packed with cosy old pubs, while in Skipton (half an hour), you can cruise the Leeds and Liverpool Canal on a day-hire barge. And talking of water, you can be cruising Lake Windermere in 50 minutes, fishing on Stocks Reservoir in the Forest of Bowland in 40 minutes, or following the circular trail to dramatic waterfalls at Ingleton (20 minutes).
