Small is beautiful, so surround yourself with beauty at Sunnyside Campsite, a one-acre site with grassy pitches framed by ash trees and hawthorn hedges. This peaceful meadow is also easily accessible by public transport – Brampton station is a 30-minute walk (or a 10-minute bike ride) from base. This pretty farm site has a nature pond, a kids’ play area and a tumbledown old stable that houses the spick-and-span toilets and water point. Other handy facilities include a washing-up area and a shared fridge freezer. Campfires and barbecues are allowed (as long as they’re raised off the ground), and firepits are available to hire on site, while logs and charcoal can be purchased from the little honesty shop. Fish suppers are on the cards on Thursdays, when a visiting van comes round to sell fresh, locally caught seafood. Sunnyside Campsite is in a prime location for cyclists, who can set out on long- or short-distance pedals along National Cycle Route 1, which passes right at the end of the lane. Walkers and folk who like messing around in boats also have lots of options: the Suffolk coastline can be reached in under 20 minutes’ drive, while the Norfolk Broads are less than a half-hour away. The site is a few minutes’ stroll from a friendly community pub and a village play area. Cafés, restaurants and a larger supermarket are all in Halesworth (10 minutes’ drive).

喜欢: Love this site, my second visit and can't wait to come back as it is just so chilled and relaxed. Sally and her husband are extremely accommodating and friendly.
Shower is a bit of an adventure, did go incredibly hot at on point but came out feeling fresh so all good.

Unfortunately the water pressure here is very low. The shower can struggle at busy times.

If future guests are needing lots of power showers, please beware! We can only offer very simple, back to basic facilities.

喜欢: The lovely location, the meadow in the middle of the field, that it's all flat and super quiet except for birdsong. Lovely hosts and facilities and a great location.

不喜欢: Would have liked a second shower and more consistent shower pressure, but the hosts tried to help campers avoid busy times with advice

Our facilities are limited and this is a back to basic site. Unfortunately it is unviable to add extra showers or loos.

We try to make the best of what we have.. and we sell solar showers in the store and there’s plenty of hot water & buckets available too!

As one guest kindly wrote “this place is about wildflowers not power showers”

喜欢: This is a really carefully considered small site with few pitches, no road noise and really lovely hosts. Every detail has been thought about and the whole experience is charming and excellent value for money. They also have the two fattest, happiest chickens I've ever seen!

不喜欢: They could do with a second shower and more shower pressure, but they acknowledge those challenges and give times that's it's better

喜欢: Beautiful campsite with lovely owners. Great area for children to play and little shop for any forgotten essentials or treats.
Facilities were clean with thoughtful extras like fresh flowers and eco friendly items.

不喜欢: Shower was quite difficult to use with a toddler, temperature was intermittent and could become very hot. However paying £1 was no bother and instructions were very clear.

The sandy beach at Southwold (20 minutes) is dominated by the white bulk of the 19th-century Southwold Lighthouse and lined by colourful wooden huts. Stroll along the long pier, stopping for ice cream or fish and chips, then head into town and the Southwold Museum for a primer on local history. With their reed-lined ponds and shallow lagoons, the marshes of RSPB Minsmere (30 minutes) are home to avocets, curlews and marsh harriers – plus the occasional (but elusive) otter. Just up the coast from there, National Trust - Dunwich Heath and Beach becomes a colourful riot of purple heather in the summer. The tall spire of the cathedral in Norwich (45 minutes) is visible from far and wide. Explore the interior of this splendid 11th-century church, strolling through the cloisters and the choir, where (if you’re lucky) you might meet Budge, the cathedral cat. The Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell explores the history of the area.
