Settle yourselves down here, Shakespeare fans: Dodwell Park is just two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and all the bardly attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s peace, there’s quiet, there’s a countryside setting – and if all that still isn’t enough for a final attempt to get the kids (and dog) reading sonnets, you can culture-ise them by taking them along to nearby Warwick Castle for all sorts of horrible history. Sorted. Dodwell Park is a small family-run site where the amenities are kept to spotless standards, with free hot showers, dishwashing facilities and hairdryers to keep the barnet looking tiptop. A shop and off-licence is on site, and armfuls of leaflets are at the information stand with info on Stratford-upon-Avon and other local tourist attractions. Nearby are Cotswold villages with Shakespearely thatched inns, walks and cruises along the River Avon and the hills of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Boating, fishing and old buildings are at Luddington village about three miles from Dodwell Park. Leaving the car behind to avoid hiking up car parking costs in Stratford? A regular bus service stops right outside the site.

喜欢 Location was brilliant and was a brilliant size for having small kids. It felt really safe and friendly.

不喜欢 The facilities could do with a bit of a refurb and deep clean as it was a bit tired. The showers and loos.

喜欢 Not very much

不喜欢 Old not very clean toilets which ran out of toilet paper. Dirty showers with blocked drain. Pitches too small and too close together. Shop was a waste of time, only open 2 hos in the morning. Zero security. Pitches way out of flat, the front of our caravan was about 5cm from the ground.

喜欢 Near to the Race course.our event was at.
Quiet.
Staff friendly.
Clean. Tidy.

不喜欢 Sloping. We weren't level even on the top of our levelling blocks. Tent behind us was very close to us and set up their guy ropes and wind breakers our side of the hook up post. Not particularly picturesque. 3 large area of concrete hardstanding near toilet block very unsightly. We weren't given a WiFi password so assumed none.

喜欢 Our pitch size was good. Locality to Stratford with bus stop outside. Very friendly and helpful staff. Park neat and tidy, with a dog walk just off site.

不喜欢 Facilities need updating and would have paid the extra for this, but had seen previous reviews and knew this. Our weekend the park was full and toilet block very busy.

Many companies offer cruises along the Avon, but to save pennies take a trip on the old chain ferry for 20p, or stay on land and take the mile and a quarter route along the Avon for views of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s burial place Holy Trinity Church and the Memorial Theatre Gardens. Scores of other walks can be had in the Cotswolds, the biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, with miles’ worth of footpath and bridleways broken up by small villages and market towns. The Cotswold Way runs 102 miles south from Chipping Campden to Bath and passes many historical houses and churches. After Warwick Castle, families can have a day out at the Ragley Hall Estate to get lost in the 3D maze, or go to Kenilworth Castle with its kids' audio trail covering the history of the castle and the lovelorn Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to impress Queen Elizabeth I. Kids will probably also like the gizmos at Stratford’s MAD (Mechanical Art and Design) Museum, Hatton Farm Village at Warwick or driving you nuts around the world’s biggest collection of historic British cars at the Heritage Motor Centre, which has the Land Rover Experience, a nature path and a playground.
