Heading Staffordshire way? If you’re after somewhere small and friendly to lay your head, make a beeline for Oak Deer Country Park in the rural village of Hixon. This peaceful and well-tended site has far-reaching rural views and on clear, cloudless days you’ll be rewarded with spectacularly colourful sunsets. The pitches have facilities including drinking-water standpipes and pay-as-you-go electric hook-ups, plus a unisex toilet. Several lights come on around the site so you can walk safely after dark – however, these go off at midnight. Right next to the campsite is a field dedicated to exercising your four-legged companions; for longer walkies you can follow a public footpath along the Trent and Mersey Canal (20 minutes’ stroll) and across the surrounding farmland. Just please keep your dogs on a lead and under control around the site, and pick up any droppings. There are also lots of handy amenities close at hand; you can walk to a convenience store, a couple of takeaways and a pub in less than five minutes.

喜欢 Great site manager (Jim) ;well kept site with open mown grass areas and country views; right next to a co-op food store and v near a nice pub

不喜欢 The thing that spoilt it was the relentless barking and howling of dogs from an on site chalet. It woke us up in the morning and happened also in the middle of the night. It really has put us off ever returning which is such a shame, but it was very annoying (hence the 6 stars - could have gone lower but there was a lot of plus points)
The seperate electricity payment was a bit confusing

不喜欢 There was only one public toilet unisex and no shower facilities, however we were aware of this prior to booking.
This did not spoil our time their.

喜欢 We loved our overnight stay. The owners are lovely and helpful. The pitches are large. A very chilled break. A lovely walk to a nice pub and a takeaway the will deliver to the site.

喜欢 This is the 2nd time we have stayed here whilst visiting family. The warden is a lovely guy, nothing is to much trouble .The site is super clean and pitches a good size. There's a shop right next door and a pub 5 mins walk down the road.
Great base for going and exploring the area, especially Cannock chase. Dog friendly with a fabulous view over the countryside.
Now the not so good bit,
Toilets, theres only 1, which is ok when theres not many on site, but could be a big problem when full.
Showers...there are none, I would love there to be a some.
Noise. The 1st time we came it was wonderfully peaceful, this time not so much, a neighbours ( from the residential houses nearby ) dogs barking. We accept that this happens though.
The Elsan would be benefit from having its own area.
WiFi would be great, but not a major issue.
This site has the potential to be a really great hidden gem, if there were better toilet & shower facilities. ( especially if we continue to get hot weather in summer months ).

Yes we will come again as we like it.
