Opened by the Shingler family in 1974, Lower Lacon Caravan Park is just a mile from the stunning market town of Wem in north Shropshire. With train and bus services in Wem being within walking distance, the site has easy access to plenty of local attractions, including Shrewsbury, Ellesmere and Whitchurch (which are all within 25 minutes' drive of the site if you'd rather take your own transport). The site has a very convenient and secure set-up, with a barrier system, 24-hour emergency cover and a warden and owners living on site. There are two play areas on site, as well as crazy golf and a heated outdoor swimming pool with a toddler's paddling pool (please take note that the pools are only open during high season for pre-booked sessions only, and weather dependent). For extra entertainment, the J.A.K.K.S. Barn (open on weekends during low season and closed during winter) has a bar and occasional family discos. When you're hungry, pick up snacks at the on-site supermarket, which also has an off-licence. The J.A.K.K.S. café and takeaway (open on weekends during low season and closed during winter) are on hand for further refreshments. By the pool, there's the choice of CJ's Snack Bar (weather dependent) and the adults-only Windmill Lounge Bar (only open during high season or on weekends during low season and winter), which has a marquee. Lower Lacon Caravan Park has a pretty cool backstory, having started as the back entrance for the Aston Park American Army Camp, a munitions and distribution depot built in World War II (on land purchased from owner Clive's paternal grandfather). During its development, a D8 bulldozer sank in the soil, so the land was covered with three feet of solid materials from local foundries; this can make placing pegs difficult but it also means that the team have never had to turn away any customers due to bad weather as the pitches stay firm.

喜欢 Lovely site with good facilities, absolutely incredible staff who don't hesitate to help, the wardens were fantastic. Lots of different type of pitches so some would be louder than others. Two good parks for kids and a great ' no photo' policy at the swimming pool. Great area to do washing up.

不喜欢 It would be nicer to have a longer slot in the pool as 45 minutes isn't that long for a larger family however we appreciate you are trying to accommodate everyone.

喜欢 The wardens were absolutely fantastic when we had an Issue with our electric. They went out of their way to help us. Really impressed.
Shop prices are also very reasonable.

喜欢 Great location an hour outside of wales/chester. Enjoyed the friendly geordies on site and the majority of the staff were helpful and friendly. Big pitch on orange field, lots of parks and farm animals for the kids and a pool. Entertainment was decent, shop onsite and cafe serving good, basic food. Major plus is the campers actually seemed to respect the quiet hours too, maybe the 24/7 wardens and owners on site make some think twice. Overall great experience, would be great for families with little ones.

不喜欢 Quite a retro vibe, feels like it could do with modernising. Showers I would have appreciated a mixer so you can choose the temperature.
