Sometimes you just need a little escape, eh? You need a great swathe of open space, with rural views to gaze out over, friendly sheep in the neighbouring field and (fingers crossed) a gorgeous glowing sunset to admire while you sip something nice of an evening. Sound like just the tonic? Then hightail it to Highfield Escape, a Shropshire rural retreat 10 minutes’ drive from Bridgnorth and with super views over the Clee and Wrekin hills. Friendly owners Tina and Mark have clearly put a lot of thought into making their bijou little site a perfect place to relax. Firepits and outdoor seating are all set up for alfresco evenings, with a shared kitchen on hand for days when indoor prep seems preferable. Perhaps most crucially, the folks here have also chosen to keep this place for the sole use of grownups, and for only a handful of guests at a time – so you’re pretty much guaranteed plenty of peace and quiet to aid the soothing of stressed souls. Wrench yourself from your retreat to see some of your surrounds; canoeing, fishing, golf and tennis are all nearby, and there are plenty of attractions to explore, including UNESCO-listed Ironbridge and steam-powered rides on the Severn Valley Railway.

Quirky Corner 露营舱

喜欢 This is definitely our new favourite place in the UK and we feel so lucky to have found such a gem of a place. You feel like you have your own private campsite with incredible views and the most welcoming owners. Tina and Mark were so genuine and lovely and were nearby for any questions but gave us our space and privacy.

The toilet, shower and kitchen were spotless and didn’t feel like your typical campsite amenities.

Our quirky corner pod was very spacious and had everything we might need and also a lovely comfy warm bed. The fairy lights are a beautiful touch and make it just magical.

Bridgnorth is a beautiful nearby town that has great shops and also a cool place to visit.

不喜欢 There is nothing we disliked about our whole weekend and we are already trying to work out when we can return!

Thanks Tina and Mark for a wonderful weekend.

Sunset 小舍

喜欢 Booked last minute, and once we were there we realised how lucky we were to have managed to have the bank holiday weekend at this gem of a site…what a find!
Stayed in the sunset lodge which is beautifully presented, clean, cozy and comfortable with everything you need.
We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome from the lovely owner Tina, who after a nice chat and realising how small the world really is, showed us around the spotlessly clean bathroom and shower unit, and the shared cooking and dish washing area. Her husband Mark soon fallowed to introduce himself. Both very approachable owners with nothing too much trouble if needed as they were close by and just a message away.
A Perfect peaceful site with stunning views… especially at sunset!
I really didn’t want to share such a positive experience with the fear that it would get too popular 🤣 but Highfield escape deserves this review, and we will be booking again in advance to secure our next visit!

If you’ve got something of a nostalgic streak, you’ll be wanting to steam along for a 16-mile ride on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth (10 minutes’ drive); make a stop along the way at their Highley hub to get up close to a collection of old engines and see what damage can happen when a locomotive collides with a camel. And there’s plenty more heritage around here, too: make the 20-minute trip to UNESCO-listed Ironbridge to eye up the Iron Bridge itself and visit the ten museums around the town hailed as the place where the Industrial Revolution kicked off. Or you may prefer to wander through the house and gardens at Weston Park (25 minutes) or peruse the planes at the Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford (20 minutes). Not having kids in tow doesn’t mean skipping out the family-friendly attractions – you can just go at your own pace around the West Midland Safari Park (half an hour), the fairground at Treasure Island (40 minutes) or Drayton Manor theme park (an hour away).
