Hikes, wildlife and generous helpings of history are all dished up at The Red Lion, a simple site in the grounds of an old Lincolnshire inn. At a crossroads in the village of East Kirkby, The Red Lion has been refreshing travellers since 1841; more recently, it was a favoured watering hole for the men and women of Bomber Command in World War II, and the pub’s décor pays tribute to them. The staff are steeped in the history of the old coaching inn and the nearby airfield, and can point you towards the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, 10 minutes’ walk down the road and on the site of the former Royal Air Force base. The Red Lion makes a splendid base for aviation and wartime history buffs, with the heritage centre nearby and the displays and memorials of the International Bomber Command Centre a 45-minute drive away. As it’s on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds and around half an hour's drive from the coast, it’s also well placed for walks, stately home visits and wildlife watching. Most importantly, it’s at the back of a friendly pub (which has varied winter and summer opening days and hours, but is always closed on Mondays). It serves hot food alongside local beers and other refreshing tipples. Canine companions are welcome in the bar (it’d be nice if they bought a drink…) and on the site.

Really great sized pitch.
Clean camping area.
Great location

不喜欢 Toilets/Shower areas could really do with being checked over more frequently, was mainly down to customers to tidy up - but evidently a lot of visitors did not want to tidy up, which was a shame as this is the only thing, for me, that left the site down.
Play area for kids would have been good had it not been for the damage caused by unsupervised older children breaking some of the equipment, therefore not wanting me to let me children use.

来自经理: Hi Thankyou for your comments, unfortuanlty we just don’t have the ability to check after every person has used the facilities we clean these ever single day but it appears that using the provided mop and so on to tidy after there use is just not the done thing, I’m afriad to say that we would not be able to keep our prices so reduced and employe some one to clean this consistently, our prices would have to rise to cover this cost,

All of the park equipment has been inspected and required were needed after this busy weekend it’s a shame as we do have signs all over saying that children must be supervised but again we are unable to constantly supervise this at every moment of the day,

Due to us having to also work full time to support the pub and keep it open, we do rely on people abiding by the rules but we are left picking up the peace’s which is a shame Thankyou again

喜欢 Spacious pitches,great location.the food in the pub was great and plentiful (you won't leave there hungry)and very reasonable prices as are the drinks prices. It was lovely talking to the owners who work very hard at keeping the pub going and make you feel very welcome.
Will definitely be back.

喜欢 I’ve stayed at this site previously and never hesitate to return when I’m in the area , i didn’t eat at the pub on this occasion but I have in the past and it’s always been great

Everything works on site, well managed and great for all sizes of vehicles with no height or width restrictions on approaching

Great also for children with a modern children park area with swings etc

Good free WiFi and barrier to enter and exit

We do ah e planning permission for another toilet block near non electric unfortuanlty with the current financial climate this is not something we can invest in, this is why we have kept our non electric pitch’s so very cheap per night, I’m afriad it is not possible to put any more seating within the pub as we only have so much room and we have to leave space for saftey reasons an maximum capacities,

This I’m afriad is just the limitations we are faced with being a family owned pub and campsite rather than a massive chain pub, and the pub being from the 1800s we are limited to what we are allowed to do

With the chalk hills and sandstone peaks of the Wolds so close, walkers and cyclists are particularly well sorted. A 15-minute drive away, Horncastle is a handy point to join the Viking Way: 147 miles of country trails linking the banks of the Humber with the wetlands around Rutland Water. For a more detailed look at the Wolds, take the Lindsey Trail from Horncastle up to Market Rasen (45 minutes by car), a far-from-flat route of around 80 miles passing through a landscape of ancient woodlands, Neolithic long barrows and fenland views. If the sea’s more your style set course for Skegness, half an hour away, for pier and beach walks, sandcastle building and trips to the Natureland Seal Sanctuary. The same distance away but rather quieter, the Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve is a wild stretch of coastline crisscrossed with walks and bike trails, visited by skylarks and terns, brent geese and snow bunting. If you’re up for a stately home or two, you can’t get much more stately than the sturdy brick towers of 15th-century Tattershall Castle (15 minutes), while 18th-century Gunby Hall (20 minutes) is sometimes compared to a (very large) dolls’ house.
