Plenty of space is available on the site at messingham grange.
Skirted by woodland on two sides, the protected site is in an ideal location.
Our spacious pitches are all located in one area with an amenity block on the western edge.

Fancy spending hols swinging a club, casting a line or serving up some aces? Head along to Messingham Grange, a family-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from Scunthorpe in Lincolnshire – for a hole in one, lucky catch and grand slam all rolled into one. The site’s on the grounds of an 18-hole and par-71 golf course, making it an absolute cinch to roll out of bed and onto the links. It’s a challenging course, but there’s also a 20-bay floodlit driving range for perfecting that swing and a resident PGA professional to hand out lessons. Anyone who’s not much of a golfer, or who’s tagging along with a regular Tiger Woods, might prefer to spend days being active in a different way… Luckily, the site is well-designed for active types, with five outdoor tennis courts during high season (three in low) and a fishing lake full of carp, perch, roach and bream. Never fear, that all-important 19th hole is present and correct too: a fully-licensed bar serves drinks into the evening, and the clubhouse doles out food daily. Prefer a self-catered option? Barbecues are welcome on site and there’s a small grocery shop in nearby Messingham (five minutes' drive).

Lured here by that on-site fishing lake? That’s not the only fishing hot spot hereabouts: it’s a five-minute walk from the site to Messingham Grange fisheries, where carp, crucian and ide swim about, and a 30-minute drive to Lindholme Lakes, which are full of carp, silverfish and F1s. Prefer wildlife encounters to be less of a predatory affair? It’s a five-minute walk to Messingham Zoo, where guests can get up close with raccoons, prairie dogs, arctic foxes and more, and there are safari-style rambles among lions, tigers and (polar) bears within 45 minutes’ drive at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. History buffs can dive into the past quite easily round here too: wander the streets of Gainsthorpe Medieval Village 15 minutes from base (a little imagination may be required there), tour Normanby Hall's Regency-era mansion and its parklands 25 minutes away, and explore the intriguing Mr Straw’s House about 50 minutes from base. Urban days (and plenty more history) can be had starting in Cleethorpes (50 minutes) on the boating lake, beach and Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, before moving on to the big city at Lincoln (also 50 minutes) to see the castle, cathedral and copy of the Magna Carta, or to Hull and its art galleries, museums and The Deep aquarium an hour away.

不喜欢: Dirty showers and toilets, no hard standing pitches grass was muddy and waterlogged, only one water tap no barriers or other security measures

喜欢: Fabulous place, great facilities including a club house which serves quality food, a modern clean shower block.

不喜欢: My in criticism is about the field, it was full of bird excrement which really needs to managed to keep under control.

喜欢: Clubhouse veranda nice overlooking the golf course. Spacious pitch not very busy for a bank holiday weekend.

不喜欢: Lack of showers for site- toilet block wasn’t cleaned regularly. I had to go in and clean the floor before using it having to fill the bucket to mop the floor. I also disposed of items left in the shower that had been there all day. The site isn’t gated so anyone can drive in as its a golf club too.

喜欢: Great fishing, clubhouse looked great although we didn't use. Great surroundings.

不喜欢: The toilets were unfortunately really disappointing. There were a few caravans staying as a group (possibly permanent) and the children were left playing all day in the toilets, mud everywhere, shower hose was broken and toilets themselves disgusting. Such a shame.

喜欢: 3 boys under 9 loved the space to play football.

不喜欢: Too close to the pond with a 3yr old. Not having a play area.

喜欢: Quiet once clubhouse closed, level pitch , very handy for the golf course.

不喜欢: Facilities basic, outside wash up not ideal in September, toilets and showers clean but very insect infested. No grey water disposal. Golf course in poor condition due to large scale badger damage.
