If you’re looking for a spot that will keep the entire family happy – whether they’re into fishing, hiking or fine dining – please consider Kingfisher Trout Lake Camping. This long-established family-run site with spacious grass pitches sits a five-minute drive from the town of Bromyard, in rural Herefordshire. Unsurprisingly, the big news here is the presence of a gorgeously landscaped lake that’s just the ticket for a spot of fly fishing. What’s more, should your long-suffering partner wonder what the big attraction of angling is, they might be able to finally find out thanks to an on-site tutor who can show them the basics of casting. Even if they’re not hooked (geddit?), they get to experience the beauty of the lake and its residents, which include kingfishers, ducks and dragonflies. Please remember to keep your dog on a lead when wandering along the water’s edge. In terms of amenities, the site is on the basic side: there is a toilet block and facilities for ice-pack freezing, chemical disposal and recycling. There is, however, a rather handy café that’s open daily (until 3pm), where you might be able to sample full English breakfasts, light lunches and homemade cakes, plus a range of hot and cold drinks. Those who are after a more sophisticated dining experience head to Ludlow (half an hour’s drive), in Shropshire, which is renowned for its Michelin-starred restaurants and gastropubs.

喜欢 Lovely, peaceful location with all the basics - drinking water, chemical disposal & a toilet (dated, basic but clean & does the job!) Immaculate grass pitches, huge spaces which, when I was there, got the evening & morning sunshine! Beautiful lake which was popular with fishermen & was nice to walk round & watch the ducks and swan. An added bonus was the cafe on site ran by the site & fishery owners who were very hospitable. I stayed just one night & was just what I needed. I’ve paid more for a lot less on other sites. This is a really good price & I’ll definitely be back.

喜欢 A lovely site just outside the charming town of Bromyard, Worcestershire.

It has a beautiful fishing lake, although the fish were not biting during our stay due to the hot weather and exceptionally warm water.

The pitches are huge, beautifully maintained and offer fantastic views across the lake and surrounding countryside. It is also easy to find and straightforward to travel to.

The home-cooked breakfasts are outstanding, made using fresh, locally sourced produce.

Christine and her family are extremely welcoming and very knowledgeable about both fly fishing and the local area.

These are not criticisms, simply useful points for visitors to be aware of: the owners are continually improving the site, but there are currently no shower facilities. There is a basic toilet with a basin and hot water. There is also no electric hook-up, although this was not a negative for us as we are self-contained.

喜欢 Nice peaceful site nice trout fishing lake and decent breakfast from the cafe in the morning although there is no shower there is an on site toilet that was very clean just a bit dated but for the price they charge per night I wouldn’t moan will definitely be stopping again

喜欢 The site is peaceful and scenic with a fly fishing lake, cafe and toilet , set in the heart of the Herefordshire countryside, 2 minutes from Bromyard , 15 from Leominster and 30mins to hereford, if your a keen angler or beginner the owner are friendly and relaxed.
We didn’t get the weather but it spirits weren’t dampened, a great spot with loads to do

喜欢 Lovely site, peaceful, well kept. Owners very friendly. Very basic but if, like us, that's what you're looking for, it's perfect.

不喜欢 Only 1 toilet to share, but as it is a small site this was ok. If all pitches were full then could be a potential downside to the site

Displays include Daleks, Cybermen and original costumes from the popular TV series, plus puppets from ‘Thunderbirds’ and ‘Star Wars’-related exhibits. A lively city full of independent shops and cafés, Hereford (half an hour) is known for its splendid cathedral, which houses the Mappa Mundi and a rare example of a chained library dating from the 17th century. The half-timbered Black and White House Museum displays a collection of Jacobean-era items. The cathedral in Worcester (35 minutes) is also well worth a visit, with its colourful stained-glass windows and the tomb of the 13th-century Plantagenet ruler King John. After the cathedral, take a short stroll along the River Severn to the Museum of Royal Worcester, where you can admire exquisite locally produced porcelain.
