Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

喜欢: Excellent but small campsite at the back of very good pub. Reasonable cost for a pitch. Good access to Cirencester but not by public transport.

不喜欢: Toilet and shower was excellent, only problem there was only one apart from access ro pub toilet when open.

喜欢: Fabulous sunny pitches with manicured ground and picnic benches. Great pub and food.

不喜欢: No washing up facilities on site. Only one shower and toilet who’s is quite dated

喜欢: Fabulous from start to finish. Lovely welcome and intro to the site. Great pitch for our campervan. Loved the whole feel of the place. Brilliant pub with amazing food. Would definitely stay again. 10/10 for our first ever trip in our new van

喜欢: Proximity to the Thames Head Inn, a lovely, relaxing Pub, just a few minutes away by car to Cirencester and all it has to offer. The campsite has only a few plots, but the whole site is clean, tidy with well maintained facilities nearby. Highly recommended

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site. TV addict? Visit Chavenage House, 15 minutes from Thames Head, which you may recognise as the Poldark family home of Trenwith from the eponymous BBC drama… If you’re more at home in the outdoors, explore some of the many gardens within 20 minutes of the site, rub elbows with the royals on a trip to Highgrove Gardens at the private residence of Charles and Camilla or, on a grander scale, stroll around the national arboretum at Westonbirt. Got kids trailing along? Get the best of both worlds at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Garden – meet the giraffes, lions and camels, then wander through the gardens at the Victorian manor house. If that’s not hitting the spot, take the kids to learn more about the Romans at Corinium Museum in Cirencester or give them Harry Potter vibes on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway. If all of this sounds a little too sedate for you, never fear... Have a high-octane day at the Gloucestershire Rally School or test your mettle with a trip to Head for Heights – that adrenaline will be pumping in no time.
