Stunning landscapes, scenic market towns and the peace and quiet of the Cotswolds… How could you say no to that? At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

喜欢: Good gravelled site - sizeable pitches. Plenty of manoeuvring space. Well thought out disposal area - always clean and tidy.
Pub is great - good selection of ales, great food and friendly staff.

喜欢: Nice staff, nicely laid out site with hard standing interspersed with green areas. Handy for pub. Ok for a night stopover.

不喜欢: No real views and constant road noise. We paid for two nights but left after 1st night.

喜欢: Well maintained site on the doorstep of walking some Cotswold trails or into Cirencester.
Lots of birdsong
Bonus is the pub with excellent food
Friendly and courteous staff

不喜欢: Some may be put off by some traffic noise, but that is reduced to the bridge having a narrow width, so all traffic has to slow down

喜欢: Absolutely lovely site. Pristine pitches. Amazingly friendly staff. The pub serves fabulous food.

不喜欢: Only one shower and toilet but the shower was hot and powerful, which was great

喜欢: Easy access to site and lovely staff. Had everything you need for a break away in a caravan or motorhome.

We stayed in a caravan and enjoyed the place very much

不喜欢: Only downside is phone signal was poor and WiFi wasn’t accessible on the pitch.

喜欢: Lovely small campsite next to the pub, very friendly staff , fabulous food. Great walks and no need to walk down the main road to the path, you can go via the field and take the path down to the road with a easy walk across and come to the start of the Thames walk. Easy walk into Kemble. Watched the spitfire flying. There is one toilet with a shower in the same cubicle. It’s worth using your onboard toilet and shower if you have it, let the shower be used for the campervan’s. They do have fresh water, electric and grey and black waste disposal area but not motorhome drive over service point so be aware you need to take waste master or take with you. Site is clean and has a picnic table area in the middle. There is a main road running long the campsite with the aeroplanes near by too it can be a little noisy but didn’t bother us. We will be returning with friends.

喜欢: Wow. I get to travel all over the country staying at touring sites with my caravan.
This is top of my list to return again. Less than 50yds from the pub, in their back garden, book in to have a meal at the pub, then staggering distance back to the caravan.
We use our own facilities, but there is a toilet and shower room on the back of the pub.

喜欢: clean, tidy, quiet, great food at the pub. Easy electric hook up and there was a place for a co-axial cable plug in if I wanted to watch TV (I didn't)

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site. TV addict? Visit Chavenage House, 15 minutes from Thames Head, which you may recognise as the Poldark family home of Trenwith from the eponymous BBC drama… If you’re more at home in the outdoors, explore some of the many gardens within 20 minutes of the site, rub elbows with the royals on a trip to Highgrove Gardens at the private residence of Charles and Camilla or, on a grander scale, stroll around the national arboretum at Westonbirt. Got kids trailing along? Get the best of both worlds at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Garden – meet the giraffes, lions and camels, then wander through the gardens at the Victorian manor house. If that’s not hitting the spot, take the kids to learn more about the Romans at Corinium Museum in Cirencester or give them Harry Potter vibes on the Swindon and Cricklade steam railway.
