You’ll be pretty much right in the centre of the Peak District National Park when you pitch up at Winhill View – this site is on a working farm on the edge of the Derwent river, just across the water from the village of Bamford. A quiet site this is, with no music or group bookings allowed to keep things nice and peaceful. That makes this a particularly excellent location for walkers, who can get to the likes of the Thornhill Trail, Bamford Edge and Ladybower Reservoir with just a short drive (or by setting out on foot). Mam Tor, Castleton’s caves, Bakewell and Chatsworth are all within easy reach by car too, so you’ll have no shortage of ways to fill days around here. If you’re heading out hiking (or in fact, even if you’re not…) there’s surely no finer way to start the day than with some farm-fresh eggs, which you can buy on site to cook up for an excellent breakfast. Come evening time, you may like to get a barbecue going (there are three shops within a 10-minute drive for supplies) or head out to a local pub – there are a couple of excellent ones within a mile’s walk. Back at the farm, you’ll be staying on simple but well-kept pitches within a peaceful field surrounded by trees, with access to a washing-up area and toilet/shower facilities.

喜欢 Lovely quiet setting, excellent facilities for such a small site and we enjoyed watching the farmer in his bailing work. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Good access to trails meant we could hike straight from the campsite.

喜欢 The quiet, the view of Bamford Edge, the location with easy access to the Anglers Rest by foot, the owners who are very nice. Super clean flushing toilet and amazing bathroom.
