Parking up for the Peak District to flit between limestone valleys, pretty villages and green peaks? Take your kit to Ashbourne Touring and Camping Park, a well-equipped site in a handy spot just off the A517, a mile from the village of Hulland Ward. Easy access from the main road means it’s nice and straightforward to get set up at this Derbyshire site – and that location also means you’ll be handily close to the village’s pub and farm shop (a useful source of supplies for your barbecue back at base). Bus services from the stop just outside can take you to Ashbourne's cobbled streets and weekly open-air market – or, alternatively, drive yourself over there in about 10 minutes. In fact, everything here has been designed to make life nice and easy for guests, with well-kept, ample toilet and shower facilities, a chemical disposal area and a washing-up area provided. And if you can't bear the thought of leaving a faithful furry companion behind, good news – dogs are welcome to join you on site as long as they're well-behaved. You'll probably want to plan lots of days out around the area. The edge of the Peak District National Park is about 10 minutes' drive away, as is the start of the traffic-free Tissington Trail, so you'll be in a good position for getting out to explore the lovely landscapes. And there are plenty of other attractions around too, including Alton Towers and the grand Chatsworth Estate.

喜欢 Nice, peaceful sight. Arrived late, pitch info was pinned up waiting for us at reception. Nice little information room that listed local pubs and bus routes and other things.

喜欢 Site is lovely, toilets and showers are clean.
The lady and gent on check in were super friendly.
They even let us have a late check out so that we could spend one more day exploring.

喜欢 The lady who runs it was lovely. Nothing else positive to share about this site and will never go back.

不喜欢 Facilities basic and often dirty. Tents very close to each other. Site rules but none followed by other campers and not enforced. Not slept for 3 nights due to other groups singing etc. until after 2am. Only book in here if you want to stay up late which is fine for those who want that kind of camping. Too far out of the centre so drove or got Ubers.

喜欢 Quite site

不喜欢 Would have been nice to be told site is being sold and nobody cares about your needs. One member of staff on site for 2/3 hours in the morning just to clean the toilets (well attempt to). Toilet block floor grubby and looks unclean. Pitches just about wide enough to fit the caravan on with an awning and not what I call level.

喜欢 - Short grass to pitch up on
- Cleanliness of toilets and shower cubicles, which were cleaned daily and kept on top of.
- Clean washing facilities
- Dog walk
- Electric hook up
- Asked to be close to friends when booked, which was granted
- Added on additional night whilst there
- Friendly welcome with information
- Laundry room available (did not use but nice to know it was there with an iron too)
- Play park for children to play on with a swing, basketball net, football net and small climbing unit

不喜欢 Not so much of a dislike, but it would be good for the children to have additional things at the park to play on. A new net for the football pitch and maybe a slide (children’s review!)

不喜欢 Padlocked gates on exit. Limited staff attendance on site to deal with rowdy people and stupidity. Facilities minimum and a little too pricey.
