What a peaceful park this is for Peak District hols – on 11 acres of quiet woodland near the national park and set deep in the Derbyshire countryside with picnic areas peppered all around. And what a pleasing park this is for those who insist on amenities being immaculate and up to date – the toilet and shower block comes with disabled access, baby changing and showers with hot and cold water, and is kept in tiptop condition at all times by the friendly site team. Riddings Wood Holiday Park is a rural park but with easy access to urban centres like Derby and Nottingham as well as to the hikes, bike rides and canters of the Peak District. (If you're a bit bamboozled as to what to do first, have a look at the tourist info point in reception or ask the team for tips.) Campfires are allowed if you need a bit of warming upon return. And finally, what a pint-friendly site Riddings Wood is too – the only thatched-roof pub in Derbyshire, Moulders Arms (aka The Thack), is a short stroll away; and the Seven Stars, a community pub, is just across the road. 喜欢 MANAGEMENT WERE VERY FRIENDLY, PEACEFUL, QUITE. TOILET AND SHOWER FACILITIES WERE VERY CLEAN AND VERY WELL LOOKED AFTER.

喜欢 Absolutely lovely was scared to book somewhere we hadn’t heard off at first however so glad we did really clean & peaceful & the hot tub was amazing and spotless wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be coming back for a weekend stay

喜欢 Had a 2 night stay at Riddings Wood on the none electric field. As the first night was Saturday there was a lot of children on the field, but was quite shocked that by 10 o'clock the children all disappeared back to their tents and it was very quiet.Found it very peaceful and relaxing there! The Manager came round on both nights checking we had no problems which we thought was very good.

不喜欢 The none electric field was right at the back of the campsite so was quite a way to carry our water butts being in our late 60's.

喜欢 The toilet and shower facilities were very nice, always clean and well stocked and the shower was the perfect temperature.
There were 2 pubs just a 5 minute walk away.
The local chinese takeaway was amazing.

不喜欢 The pitch was quite a way from the shower block because it is a very large sight.
Our pitch was on a slope so not ideal.

喜欢 The couple running the park were so friendly and helpful. Lovely to chat too and care about guests having a great stay
New toilet block was amazing. Extremely clean too

不喜欢 Noisy on the camping field in the evening due to 3 families being together, bit not the iotes fault!
Quite a hill to walk to the toilet block from bottom of the field, but only due to being g so hot and me unfit!

To the Peak! The Peak District National Park is but a short drive from Riddings Wood Holiday Park, and has a bit of what you fancy for all ages and inclinations. If you're in the area to hike, there are more Peak District trails than you can shake a (walking) stick at, from the shorter treks of seven or so miles around the upper Dove Valley and Pilsbury Castle, to long-distance paths like the Limestone Way (46 miles), the Derwent Valley Heritage Way (55 miles) or the Peak District parts of the Pennine Way, running for 268 miles from the northern Peak District to just inside the Scottish border. Climbers and cavers also delve into all things Peak: thousands of routes for all abilities are all over the park for climbers, including Burcen Edge for beginners and more hair-raising ascents like Debauchery and Mad Dogs and Englishmen for the severely experienced. If you're of a cavernous disposition, make your way to the village of Castleton and its four show caves, Blue John, the Peak, Treak Cliff and Speedwell Cavern with underground boat trip. Matlock Bath has a cable car to take adventurers to limestone caverns The Heights of Abraham, and Poole's Cavern near Buxton has vast caves to explore before an above-surface walk around Buxton Country Park. Other attractions like Chatsworth House and Gardens and the old Crich Tramway are to hand for the historically-minded, alongside old Peak District villages and market towns for tearooms, restaurants, family pubs and lots of shopping: try Buxton, Ashbourne and Bakewell to start you off. Back at Matlock Bath, let the kids go large at the rides and attractions of theme and play park Gullivers Kingdom for ages two to 13; the 600-acre Matlock Farm Park nearby should keep them busy for a bit too.
