Lägg till din företagsinformationIf your mental image of the Algarve centres around thronged beaches, prepare to be surprised by Quinta Zurreira, a peaceful rural site that’s just half an hour’s drive from the coast, but feels a million miles away from crowds of holidaymakers.
Halfway between the towns of São Bartolomeu de Messines and Algoz (10 minutes’ drive to either), the site's three-bedroom static caravan sits in a secluded corner of a farm, surrounded by orange, fig and pomegranate trees. And if their ripe, luscious fruit seems tantalisingly close, there's good news… because in season you can sample the home-grown produce.
Speaking of the right season, during the summer months a swimming pool is available for guests – a perk that’s especially welcome after a warm hike in the nearby hills, including Pico Alto (15 minutes). By the way, at Pico Alto you might want to check out the panoramic swing, strategically placed right on the edge of the summit (certainly not one for the vertigo sufferers…)
But back to the site: in addition to a shower room and toilet, the static caravan has a kitchen with gas hob, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle… in short, pretty much all the kit you might need to keep your family well fed. The shaded decked area in front of the caravan has a bistro set that makes for a nice alfresco dining spot, and you can linger there with a glass of wine in hand long after the food’s all gone to take in views of the sunset and the surrounding area. There are several restaurants within a 10-minute drive, including one that can be reached on foot in about 15 minutes.

With animal experiences, ziplines and pedal karts, Krazy World (10 minutes’ drive) should keep families well and truly entertained. Kids can make friends with the fluffy animals in the petting farm, handle exotic snakes and feed tortoises, before going for a pony ride or a game of miniature golf.
Are you brave enough to face the Kamikaze waterslide at Aqualand Algarve (20 minutes)? Don’t worry if not, because you can still have a ball at this vast waterpark with a wave pool, lazy river and a shallow pool with child-friendly water play kit.
Crowded beaches or not, the coast of the Algarve really is quite magnificent and well worth a visit. Check out the sandy expanse of Praia da Galé (Leste), the cove of Praia dos Arrifes, sheltered by a sequence of rugged sea stacks, or the red cliffs dominating Praia da Falésia.
